Ramona Fradon - smiles for this art no matter who she draws!
He was incredibly nice and had some very reasonable prices.
An ink and marker drawing of Samus from Metroid, she's got like a tattered cloak on.
Got one more sketch done last night between packing for ECCC. Given how busy this weekend is gonna be, I'll probably only get one sketch a day done until Sunday. I think I have like 10 more to go.

Welp, I've already had a great day at ECCC. Just picked up this beautiful Rogue from @enidbalam.bsky.social
Friends, I bought so many zines and mini comics at ECCC.
JD has a great answer to a question about making horror stories in the fucked up world we live in today.
I can't quote it, but basically he says you have to avoid being too reductive, like if you try to make real events and circumstances too simple you lose the plot.
I have to check out Beneath The Trees Where Nobody Sees. The panelists have mentioned it twice. I've heard lots of good things, but just haven't taken the plunge.
Great question to the artists "what can you do to make your art scarier!"
One of the things everyone mentions is that even cute looking characters can give you a sense of unease depending on how you structure the storytelling, how you frame the shot.
Everyone talks about their introduction to horror. It's funny that a lot of them aren't what you would consider traditional horror movies or books, like a scary Sweet Valley High book or Dracula Dead And Loving It.
He wasn't really talking about the Krakoan age, he was just talking about Krakoa the character as seen in Giant Size X-Men #1. He was the guy that pitched the way Krakoa died at the end of that book to Len Wein.

Now I'm here at the Chills and Craft of Horror comics with @arthurwyatt.bsky.social @keezyyoung.bsky.social @jdboucher0.bsky.social and two other people I don't know!
You can tell that Chris wishes his run on X-Men had been a lot longer. He answers a couple what if questions with this like wistful regret, and says outright he wished he hadn't been fired off adjectiveless X-Men.
Obviously Claremont doesn't hold a grudge because he still compliments Byrne and mentions that Marvel will soon be publishing Byrne's X-Men fan-fiction, so you can read that.
Claremont does tell the story of John Byrne demanding to Jim Shooter that either Chris leaves X-Men or John does. Shooter basically offered John Byrne the FF to keep Byrne happy and Chris on X-Men.
I get the best commission requests! The Human Fly, drawn for David at #eccc @emeraldcitycon.bsky.social!
He also had a good line that he believes if Paul Smith had stayed on the X-Men for another year they could have bought Marvel.
Chris Claremont is talking a lot about the differences in working with John Byrne and Dave Cockrum. Very complimentary of both, but it doesn't take much to read between the lines that he liked working with Cockrum more.
Chris Claremont is not a fan of Krakoa The Living Island.
Hell yeah, this is great.
Hereβs the inks btw, on A4 paper!
Siri. How do I delete someone elseβs skeet?

Probably should have included a picture
Next up at ECCC is the Chris Claremont panel. 99.9% sure I saw @arthurwyatt.bsky.social from across the room.
Yes there are! There's also a lot of people doing speculation videos on tiktok.
Half way through this Zack makes a great point that "who you know doesn't matter, it's who knows you" when it comes to getting work.
Lots of great advice in regards to networking, getting yourself out there, finding peers at this panel. Starting from the bottom and all that.
While personally I'm not looking for a career in comics (zines for life), I love learning how comics are made, how they are published and marketed. All that good stuff.
