overall, a hard rule against starting wars produces a world preferable to a world in which that rule is not respected. It will always be tempting for a stronger nation to use war against a weaker nation that displeases it in some way. It will always be the case that a nation that starts a war believes that its reasons this time are sound. What we have learned, in the most destructive possible ways, is that we are all better off with a hard and fast rule against making exceptions to the rule. Opening the door to things like “preemptive wars” to head off some form of (real or concocted) threat has the same effect as saying it is okay to shoot someone if they make you nervous. It causes a lot of people to get shot unnecessarily.

Recently realized that most people I know IRL now consider posting on X or Bluesky to be a slightly perverted activity. "Oh. You like... actually go on there?" Posting on Instagram is seen as normal. But scribbling your little political opinions into the public torture box is freak behavior

No, it just fails again in an identical way
Right, I don't want to restore the entire system to a backup, what I want to do is start backing up the OLD computer to the NEW backup, so I don't have to do a restore OR delete the backup and start over.
To be clear: There's nothing on the new backup I need. The only work I did on the new Mac was stored on iCloud, all of which populated to the new Mac properly. So I'd be happy to just take over the backup with my old Mac. But when I try I get this error: So it might be impossible.
Question for Mac geeks: I left my Mac on a plane. (NEVER use the seatback pocket.) Bought new Mac. Restored from TM backup. Used it for 2 weeks, kept backing up. Airline found my old Mac (hurray!) Is there any way to get my old Mac to take over the TM backup from the NEW mac without a wipe/restore?

back to the droid: looking at the above ad, I think one of the selling points of the phone was supposed to be that it showed you the "whole web" -- i.e., the desktop view of every website, because they hadn't figured out how to display mobile versions of websites yet. lol
