Patients say measles 'worse than expected' as Utah hits 350+ infections, doctors say
Health officials plead with residents to vaccinate against measles as Utah hits 358 infections.
Over 120 people have been hospitalized due to measles in Utah alone. "It is, at this time a real threat in our state and something we can do to stop it," said Dr. Leisha Nolen, state epidemiologist… pleading for people to get themselves and their children vaccinated.” @jackiantonovich.bsky.social

Pregnant women in ERs took less Tylenol after Trump autism warning
A study in The Lancet finds that pregnant women in emergency rooms used less Tylenol after President Trump said it could raise their babies' risk of autism. Scientists say there is no proven link.
Yes because a presidents words carry immense weight! “Doctors and scientists quickly said the data didn't support the president's claim, but emergency room orders for Tylenol, or acetaminophen, for pregnant patients went down 10% in the months that followed”

Noem is out largely due to massive public activism, especially in MN, Democrats expressing increasing interest in impeachment and investigations, and resulting media coverage.
Keep pushing. These people are not invincible or immune from public opinion.

Bhattacharya urges measles vaccination as US activity increases
The genomic evidence is a technicality at this point, in my opinion. It's clear we do not meet the intent of holding measles elimination status. The PAHO meeting to decide on our status has been moved to November to allow for completed analysis. www.cidrap.umn.edu/measles/bhat...

Once again RFK Jr appoints people to ACIP with no formal vetting process.
This proves our theory that all usual procedures and decorum have been thrown out.
More on these two additions in a bit.

ACOG Withdraws From ACIP, Citing Scientific Integrity Concerns
Group will focus on developing its own evidence-based vaccine guidance for ob/gyns
I think this is a good move esp if more societies/orgs back out. Delegitimizing ACIP is necessary now- though I know they are the body that set the course for vaccines. Sigh

I just spent way more time than intended watching the Casey Means hearing for surgeon general, & what I took away from it is that this person desperately wants this job & she couldn't say vaccines are safe & effective, that they don't cause autism, & that they save lives. This alone disqualifies her

I love @kffhealthnews.org and read it every morning. I wish there was the equivalent for scientific manuscripts. Yes,I know to use google and pubmed alerts but they don’t hit like KFF. I said what I said.

RFK Jr. May Eliminate the USPSTF, Original Task Force Members Warn
Dismantling the task force would be 'an existential threat to clinical practice,' they said
This is what we may loose: “The task force is made up of volunteer experts who review evidence & provide evidence-based recommendations on screening & other preventive care. By law, recommendations that garner an A or B grade must be covered by insurers without any cost sharing for patients.”

Stop trying to make like there's some kind of grand strategy or secret plan at work. It's not that. Truly. It's the simplest thing you can possibly imagine.

RFK Jr. says we need more herbicide production, stunning his followers
Supporters of the health secretary’s Make America Healthy Again movement are worried Kennedy is selling out.
He wants to keep his job, what did you think he’d do? “Kennedy’s endorsement of the policy on Sunday sparked an existential dilemma for some MAHA devotees who now are wondering if he has abandoned his principles in service of Trump.”
