Over 120 people have been hospitalized due to measles in Utah alone. "It is, at this time a real threat in our state and something we can do to stop it," said Dr. Leisha Nolen, state epidemiologistβ¦ pleading for people to get themselves and their children vaccinated.β @jackiantonovich.bsky.social
Yes because a presidents words carry immense weight! βDoctors and scientists quickly said the data didn't support the president's claim, but emergency room orders for Tylenol, or acetaminophen, for pregnant patients went down 10% in the months that followedβ
Noem is out largely due to massive public activism, especially in MN, Democrats expressing increasing interest in impeachment and investigations, and resulting media coverage.
Keep pushing. These people are not invincible or immune from public opinion.
βCiting rising costs and shortfalls in federal support, about 20 states are toughening eligibility requirements for patients in drug assistance programs.β
The genomic evidence is a technicality at this point, in my opinion. It's clear we do not meet the intent of holding measles elimination status. The PAHO meeting to decide on our status has been moved to November to allow for completed analysis. www.cidrap.umn.edu/measles/bhat...
Congress rejected sweeping cuts to science agencies. But the NIH, the NSF and NASA have had their spending slowed.

Woah
Once again RFK Jr appoints people to ACIP with no formal vetting process.
This proves our theory that all usual procedures and decorum have been thrown out.
More on these two additions in a bit.

Way to go!!!
Again for the people in the back: -Bipartisan support for school vaccine mandates
-Poll shows 84% believe vaccines for diseases like measles are safe
People largely favor vaccines!
I think this is a good move esp if more societies/orgs back out. Delegitimizing ACIP is necessary now- though I know they are the body that set the course for vaccines. Sigh
I just spent way more time than intended watching the Casey Means hearing for surgeon general, & what I took away from it is that this person desperately wants this job & she couldn't say vaccines are safe & effective, that they don't cause autism, & that they save lives. This alone disqualifies her
Guinea-Bissau gets it. This trial was horribly unethical it needed to be stopped.
Because of course.
Why platform someone like this? Itβs dangerous to public health (let alone idiotic)
I love @kffhealthnews.org and read it every morning. I wish there was the equivalent for scientific manuscripts. Yes,I know to use google and pubmed alerts but they donβt hit like KFF. I said what I said.
This is what we may loose: βThe task force is made up of volunteer experts who review evidence & provide evidence-based recommendations on screening & other preventive care. By law, recommendations that garner an A or B grade must be covered by insurers without any cost sharing for patients.β
Stop trying to make like there's some kind of grand strategy or secret plan at work. It's not that. Truly. It's the simplest thing you can possibly imagine.
Don't think "four-dimensional chess"
Think "toddler + cheerios"

He wants to keep his job, what did you think heβd do? βKennedyβs endorsement of the policy on Sunday sparked an existential dilemma for some MAHA devotees who now are wondering if he has abandoned his principles in service of Trump.β
Latent TB is always lurking. But 200 cases is wild. π€―
!!!!!!!!
Yes, inevitably, someone worse will replace him. Sigh
Abraham was awful-- he stopped the health department in Louisiana from promoting vaccines during their whooping cough epidemic (2 infants died). But will someone even worse replace him?
