I'm currently working on my most-anticipated romance post for April-June 2026, and as someone who doesn't enjoy second chance stories, it's rough because they seem to be all the rage right now. π
Also, nothing will make me drop a book like a hot potato faster than describing it as "clean". Ick.

I've been struggling with the same thing. I've been trying to read the same middle grade book since the beginning of February and just can't get into it/finish it. It's one I was genuinely so excited about and I keep hoping it will suddenly click for me.

As hard as we are fighting, book bans are having an impact on the books being written and published. To put this another way, a very small number of well-funded people who don't write books, don't teach books, don't work in libraries are trying to decide what books are available for everyone else
Following the lies and hatred targeting trans folks during the State of the Union Address, numerous republican House representatives introduced a bill that would create A NATIONWIDE BOOK BAN.
Here's what it is and what to do: bookriot.com/hr7661-book-...

Every time I try to use Threads Iβm reminded why I spend the majority of my time here instead. Iβm often wrong and happy to be told so and learn from it, but sometimes it just feels like people are looking to pick fights with complete strangers. I just donβt have the energy for that anymore.
I was trying to parse my conflicted feelings about the new Scream on Threads and was told they were βinside thoughtsβ from someone I donβt know and have never spoken to before. The response felt needlessly confrontational and reminded me of how sick I used to feel on Twitter re: stuff like this.
Book bans are silencing diverse creators and their stories. As of this writing, there are just nine states that have passed a Freedom to Read Bill: California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Oregon, Rhode Island, and Washington.π§΅
The great lie of patriarchy is that its purpose is to protect women and children, when in reality its to preserve women and children as belongings of the powerful men, to do with as they please.
As someone who has nothing but disdain for Scream 6 and what I saw as a fundamental misunderstanding of what makes the series great - it's humour and clever meta commentary about the state of horror and pop culture, not gratuitous violence - I'm excited about the return ofWilliamson's perspective.
I think Paramount's initial disrespect toward and dismissal of Neve, who helped make the series the iconic success that it is, needed to be addressed and corrected, and I'm happy to see her being paid what she deserves. I also wish that hadn't been at the expense of one of her female costars.
I have complicated feelings about Scream 7. I think it's unequivocally wrong that Melissa Barrera was fired for expressing her political beliefs and I'm excited to see Neve Campbell and Kevin Williamson return to a series that means the world to me.
Itβs not just Medicaid funding theyβre withholding to MN. Itβs food assistance, child care assistance, social services, job training, safety testing, public health, disaster relief. SNAP. Free lunch for kids in school.
They hate us for loving our neighbors, and are collectively punishing us for it.
