Sounds vaguely familiar. Didn't you say that once before? ๐Ÿซค

Women want to be her. Men want to be with her. All for the exclusive deals.

2010 GAO Report to Senate Armed Services Committee. The term "warfighter" appears 167 times in that very public document issued sixteen years ago. www.gao.gov/assets/gao-1...

I don't think it's the term. Hegseth is such a clown that he gets a lot of press coverage and people notice what he says. Most of the time the Secretary of Defense is literally invisible to the public and no one has any idea what words he or she uses for anything. Who remembers what Jim Mattis said?

No. The original question from Naomi was "when did it start?" It started long before Hegseth. Hegseth loves it (of course), but it was common and widespread years ago.

I am neither an employee of nor a contractor to the Department of Defense. I've heard DOD staff say "warfighter" many times in presentations at international conferences where many attendees were not US persons, much less "inside" DOD.

Adam: it is a hegseth thing that dod now uses this language

Steve: DOD has been using that language extensively for more than ten years

Adam: That's immaterial.... Have a nice day

Steve: You too, bud.

Naomi didn't say "outside the department". I'm outside the department and heard it all the time, for years.

It's really just DOD DEI. "Warfighter" is more inclusive than "soldier" and shorter than "soldiers, sailors, marines, airmen, and guardsmen".

I've heard high-level DOD staff say "warfighter" ad nauseam at engineering conferences for at least ten years.

I agree with you in principle. The Trump administration is a good example of what it looks like in practice. If you give the government the power to arbitrate truth, then it will declare the truth to be whatever suits the government.

Interesting trivia: the line "A fella could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas with all this stuff" originally said "Dallas". I saw it in the script in the UCLA library. If you watch carefully, Slim Pickens clearly says "Dallas".

"bessent" needs to enter the lexicon as "quisling" did.
