If I hit someone, it being an accident doesn’t excuse me from recognizing the harm and APOLOGIZING PROFUSELY.

One way I work through grief is with projects. I thought a lot about what Alice loved and realized that a sci-fi ish series theme would be something she’d find fun.

2026 just laughed in my face, as we had to say goodbye to Fingol last night.

It’s the last day of the year, but 2025 hasn’t finished wrecking its havoc and Fingol is once again heading to urgent care (this time for eye issues). So much of where I went this year was either a human or animal hospital.

I live in CA where all registered voters get a mail in ballot; I stopped using USPS to post my ballot during the first trmp term. I vote early, and take it directly to the election office. Not even the ballot drop boxes, I hand it over to someone in the election office. Paranoid you say?

The Sameer Project is doing incredible mutual aid work under the hardest circumstances. Support them if you can!

Heartbroken to learn of Alice’s passing. I looked up to her immensely, and I was so grateful for her patience, grace, creativity, & insight as a collaborator. I will miss her fierce kindness & her sharp wit so very much.

The photos were taken in pre-COVID days, before Alice entered her fashionista era and I understood my genderfluidity. They are the first and last times Alice and I were able to spend time together in person.

Alice and I sit outside a cafe and smile for the camera. Alice (an Asian woman) has a BiPAP machine and a power wheelchair while I (a genderfluid Asian person in my long ombré red hair days) am leaning towards her awkwardly in my travel mobility scooter.

With many people covering Alice’s impact and legacy, the Alice Wong I want to remember is the woman behind all the bodies of work. The super blunt, funny, and empathetic human that I was able to be friends with for a little while.
