Check out this new footage of the Kankakee, IL tornado from yesterday!
Come for the blitzing funnel moving at lightning speeds, stay for the insane hailstorm raining into the Kankakee River!

The Gulf of Mexico is running a severe fever... it's the warmest it has ever been for this date. 🥵

Boom! Had a great ight show over the skyline tonight. Here’s my first big lightning shot of the season.
This is a 2-frame composite. Best as I can tell, two large, branching bolts struck the eastern antenna mast of the Hancock. #wxsky #ilwx
Strong to violent tornado south of Kankakee IL

1-minute Visible and Infrared images from @noaa.gov #GOESEast (GOES-19) included time-matched plots of SPC Storm Reports, showing thunderstorms that produced tornadoes and hail as large as 4.00" in diameter across northern Illinois. #ILwx
Genuinely the best laugh I’ve had in some time. Not sure if that makes me a bad person.

Good luck -- it's a pretty solid setup. I am often of the opinion that my tendency to sit these events out due to trying to be practical are poorer life choices than YOLO'ing it.
#TornadoTuesday. A shot of the Traynor, Iowa EF3 tornado, minutes before the Minden EF3 tornado started to spin up on the same mesocyclone. Today's IL/IN forecasted hodographs on the warm front remind me a bit of those observed on this date.
Mar-a-lago odds?
Hopefully something promising. I haven't followed too closely, but so far it feels like a massive estate sale of assets (which isn't surprising with the cap situation).
Ha, thanks! We'll see if my atmospheric predictions are as reliable as my predictions of what NWS will do.
That hodograph on the warm front = lots of streamwise vorticity.
Based on the entire suite of MPAS and recent HRRRs, I wouldn't be surprised to see a CIG2 used in subsequent SPC outlooks for today (for central IL/W IN). Now to see how idiotic my prediction is.
‘Pretty good’ = ‘freaking awesome’
Yep. That is astounding. I was only half joking the other day when I told someone soon we will need to get all our annual chasing in by Feb or early March before the US’s 8-9 month summer season sets in.
If only this setup were only a state or two closer to CO. The ceiling of the setup looks high even if a few nuances could put a wrench in it.
I should have gone somewhere instead of a bedroom window to provide a better foreground for tonight’s wave clouds enhanced sunset.
Over the last 13 years, polar-orbiting satellites captured the midwinter snowpack across the Western United States.
This winter season is a record low for snow across the region.
no, this is a GREAT trailcam
Your post followed the attached post in my feed, perfectly encapsulating the dichotomy of our times in a literal sense.
My view at that time. bsky.app/profile/agit...
I sort of show up on the video at 31:19 as part of the chaser hordes 😀
An interesting forecast for Tuesday afternoon/evening for the OK PH from one of the recent MPAS runs.

We found some deeper snow totals this morning in Roxborough State Park.
This damage and distressing report is from the Union City, MI tornado.
