Dehaene shows studies in his book "How we learn" that link tons of learning loss to tablet and smartphone use in school already. Add AI to that and it's even worse 🙄 You don't need to "learn" tablet / smartphone use. UI is super easy. What you need to learn is to be wary of info from AI / Web.
Be patient, observe, relate to your pupils on a personal level.

It vibes with me so much. When I think of school today the key ingredient that is missing is it being meaningful for kids. Ok, we learn, but for what? How's that gonna help us or make the world better? And that's a big reason many kids are struggling there.
Exactly this below. We spend more resources teaching kids to read literally (decoding) than we do teaching kids to read literarily (meaning making)

I just learned that Goodreads is owned by Jeff Bezos. An alternative is StoryGraph, a Black woman-owned platform (and yes it's really easy to transfer your lists from Goodreads to StoryGraph). You know, while we're moving things.
