Hey thanks for the clarifying question Roy. Yes I could have been more specific. I'll put forward two claims now, would be interested to hear your thoughts:

1. According to the expert source quoted in that article "Simple Stockbroking", they claim an initial investment would be worth x10 now.

Thanks Jameelur, do you have any impartial detailed resources you'd recommended I read about this and why they're not effective? Or not applied?

Also beware them having no evidence of party promises to support the promises they're making on your doorstep, and just telling you what you want to hear.

Any messages and ideas are welcome. Otherwise I'll probably end up building a sim about water management, consumption, and sources.

Eg perhaps we need to look at other countries? Or other sectors that have natural monopolies but control their externalities and avoid regulator capture and treat fines as just a cost of business as usual.

Can anyone help with that? Are there already obvious interventions we're just not applying?

I'm at an OpenDataDay hackathon hosted by Wessex Water tomorrow and Tuesday.

This is a common story that we want to tell AND show solutions for.

To do that I think we need the data, insights and narratives for how we currently do things AND how it could be done differently, better.

In general I mostly failed to make better sense of the situation yet but that's to be expected. It's complex. Not all (most of?) the relevant data is not trivially easy to get hold of and calculate over.

Also strange to see these massive numbers converted into per person values and be so tiny.

Had a 🤦‍♂️ moment when I calculated the £ per person for the £500 million increase in GP funding as... drum roll... £7 per person and thought @wikisim.org was broken... nope WikiSim was fine, just my intuition was broken! 😂 wikisim.org/wiki/1198v2

Yeah it's a common confusion. You see those games on Steam which sell millions? They only play tested _after_ selling 10k copies because _they already knew_ they knew their game was great. If you do play testing too earlier... your lack of confidence will hurt your sales. Don't do that. #be-smart

If you do do play testing you must always make sure you do the play part first because the guild of testers are really dull and super pedantic, so you have to maximise your serotonin levels to survive their, yikes... they're outside the window... shhiii...

Think about it this way, if you play test a car you usually get put in prison unless you wear gloves, a hair net and can run really fast. So basically play testing is the only legal high around nowadays, or sumfing.

Play testing is so important because step 2 is something and step 3 is profit! And if it's not about making bags of money, what are you doing? Seriously.

If you don't do play testing the pixie pixels get very sad go on strike and that's how your screen got those little duff pixels in the corner that you don't remember being there before.
