People say BlueSky is an echo chamber but we have road cyclists, gravel cyclists, mountain bikers, single speeders, fixie riders, cargo bike riders, e-bike riders, hybrid riders, recumbent riders, bikepackers, randonneurs, and I'm sure we even have a few unicyclists among us
Scientific American has updated the figure, now grouped into swimmers, fliers, walkers/runners, and vehicles. A person on a bicycle remains the most efficient way to travel, compared to all forms of biological locomotion and mechanical transport.

A smiling man stands with his bicycle on a concrete pier along a grey, choppy lakefront under an overcast sky. He has dark skin, locs, and a short beard, and is wearing a black puffer jacket, a grey knit scarf, blue jeans, and tan sneakers. His bicycle is a grey bike featuring drop handlebars, disc brakes, full fenders, and a black rear cargo rack.
A closer shot of the same man leaning over his bike and smiling wide, with the lake behind him and some seagulls blurred on the pier.
βI have days in the summertime when I take the whole day and I just ride through Chicago. I'll start in Uptown or West Ridge and I'll go all the way out to Beverly. And those are some of my favorite rides.β π§΅
Today I'm discussing @sgj.bsky.social horror story "The Night Cyclist" with my class. I'm rereading it prior to class. Slow, delightful process bc every paragraph has a lovely use of craft I want to point out to them. What a gorgeously woven piece. reactormag.com/the-night-cy...

Beneath Berlin's Potsdamer Platz, an overlooked retail strip has been reborn as a bicycle parking facility and public passage connecting users to the S-Bahn station. Modest in scale but rich in possibilities, it integrates seamlessly into the revitalised entertainment, commercial and office centre.π§΅

a group of cyclists heading up market street on a winter afternoon
a salty chug wearing pink doggles in a bike backpack in San Francisco civic center, stopping to listen to a rousing speech before continuing to ride in honor of Alex Petti
The Alex Pretti ride was more of a ride than I'd anticipated. It was very good to be in community with all sorts of riders, but I was mentally prepared for cruising through the Mission shouting, not hoisting my chunk up 1000 feet of elevation in Seacliff on my 8-spd .
This was only about two time-lapsed minutes of the Alex Pretti memorial ride in Minneapolis today. I'd guess there were at least 5x more people there than this, and probably significantly more than that. Absolutely mind blowing love and support showing up on bikes today.
Dear ICE/DHS/CBP you have no idea what level of compassion and love for our neighbors you have opened up in Minnesota!
3,000+ cyclists in 20Β° weather biked seven miles for a man we loved, a city we love, and ALL of our neighbors that we love.
Whose Streets?
Our Streets!
What an inspiring way to spend the morning in San Diego - in alliance with these lovely ~400 cyclists remembering #prettigood #noice
A ride for Alex card in my front bike wheel.
I have never been in that big of a group ride and it was so many good feels.
Proud of you, Milwaukee π«‘
The bike wackos came out today, 3-5k of them in Minneapolis. It was warmer than it has been for a long time, about 17 degrees!

Love seeing the pictures rides all over the U.S. and the world in honor of Alex Pretti. Our family in SF drew his name across San Francisco with their bikes.
group of bicycle riders on the street. a person in the foreground has tape on their back that spells out "NO ICE"
pretty good showing here in salem.

Massive group bike ride in honor of Alex Pretti, to the Labor Against ICE union rally today. I didn't really capture the scale, there were a lot of people, both on bikes and at the rally/march itself. Way to turn out, Portland. #bikesky #ICEout #laboragainstICE
Todayβs Pretti Good ride in San Franscisco. Days like today remind me why the SF area is gorgeous and is filled with beautiful, kind people.

The Roman Pavilion in Tower Grove Park St Louis. A crowd of more than 100 cyclists gathering in the snow.
Pretty proud of my bike protest setup. It was an inspiring day riding with my community to remember Alex Pretti.
A baby bundled up in a cargo bike wearing a blue helmet. There is a sign on the outside of the bike that says βIce Out.β
A selfie of a woman wearing sunglasses and a helmet. There are hundreds of people behind her.
A photo of Nicollet Ave showing hundreds of bikers filling the road. Many people are wearing high visibility vests that say βPeaceful observer, donβt shootβ
I donβt think I could love Minneapolis more. Thousands of bikers, including a sleepy Joey, came out to ride bikes while remembering and honoring Alex Pretti today.

Strong turnout for Austin's Alex Pretti memorial bike ride. The mood was mostly somber, interspersed with protest chants. Abolish ICE.
Not a #cloud in the sky but, a dang fine day for a meaningful bike ride from the other end of the Mississippi River.

Small group of white people in winter clothing on a plaza hold the dark blue and grey menacing loon flag and Alex Pretti Unity Ride posters.
Bike riders seen from behind, one with a sign on the bike that reads "Ice Out," and two with fabric pennants reading, "Are you OK?" and "Alex Pretti"
People fold origami boats by a young tree. A menacing loon flag hangs on the posts protecting the tree. Bikes are standing all around.
