They should have curling stones like spinner car wheels, so you could hold the handle and get the rock spinning before you throw it.

People do complicated manifest operations to put together the right cars for a trainset or have timetables and schedules to keep. That's written down but also encoded in train games so for instance OpenRails would have logic that could be adapted maybe? There are tabletop train games too I think.
A beautiful O scale model railroad with overhead catenary. The scene is a complex railroad junction in a rural settimg.
Nice work, @arlostrains.bsky.social !

Note to self, ha.
I have some vehicles in 1:220 for model railroading. They're really small.
I'm reminded how tough it must be to design unique uniforms for #scifi series when I see how the uniforms in Stargate Atlantis look like they tried to sew the top of a cocktail dress onto a pair of overalls.
So this will be close enough to some foamcore board asphalt areas that it will be interesting to see the difference esp. when photographing.
After a base coat of black (bc the sandpaper was purple) I airbrushed a couple layers of different grays and then added a drop of ochre to give it a dusty look. Ig it worked because it looks different depending on the angle and lighting and doesn't look like either of these pics to the eye π
Ok, I was about to throw down my fine detail brush and magnifying goggles and give up π
7UP GOLD was a cinnamon ginger soda that was rushed through test markets in 1987. Its national release saw a significant marketing push that confused consumers, since its caffeine content directly clashed with 7Upβs βNever Had It, Never Willβ campaign.
Have a great breakfast with New Haven with my Railroad placemats. Customtrains.org
I know it's one of everyone's favorites but the V100 series is one of my favorites and the BR212 is a favorite among those. Congrats on getting it running it again! Looksl ike it has good low-speed power for shunting but is also fast?
No way am I typing all those alt-texts again but I thought this was a decent model railroad post for those interested in Z scale who may want to start with N instead. N-stead?π
Rokuhan rail joiners in a package sitting on top of a clear light green plastic parts box under a damaged left-hand turnout
A pair of scissors carefully inserted into a tiny bag of metal rail joiners over an open green plastic box to catch them if they fall
A model railroad turnout with one short rail missing and blue mounting putty smeared in that area sitting in railyard ballast next to an empty spot in the track where it will be inserted. A fresh black clay dockside with bare wooden edges is above in this overhead pic, with a water channel above that with a stone and timber bridge foundation forming a triangle from the top of the pic into the water channel 1/4 of the way across, and a pair of magnifying goggles sits mostly in the channel set aside after use
A model railroad turnout with track joined to either side and a commuter train car with lit windows. in this overhead shot below the track is a dime indicating the size (the dime is wider than the track is) and a pair of small forceps-style tweezers sits below that on the railyard gravel. at the top of the screen another track has a two axled railcar next to a fresh black clay dockside with square wooden dowel edges, obviously still under construction
OK, so aside from the obvious I was able to conquer my fearsome tiny foes, Rokuhan Z scale rail joiners, having learned the secret "wiggle it, just a little bit" and the track is locked back down as intended with the remaining concrete. It's tight to the layout but can be removed
The br212 is deep cleaned
For 35β¬ and a decent amount of cleaning, and some cheap replacements its running beautifully

The late afternoon light today lends a sort of beauty to even the back alley, the junk behind D.B.McNooch's little machine shop, that sumac that survives in spite of all we do. Murray Skynard's VW van, the latest thing.

Not a prototypical trainset but it still has a Marklin adapter on it.
What do you think about exaggerated shading? It does lend visual impact without looking weird but only when it's done this well but takes a lot of skill and a good eye to know when it's enough.
Wait, is that a challenge-coin sized coin? What scale is that to be so detailed but so small? Wow. π
This is good. Need some slight adjustments for Z scale but this is close to how I was planning based on other tutorials and taking walks and staring at asphalt, and part of how I ended up messing around with clay power. On a tangent, saved two cardboard egg cartons to try your sculptamold recipe.π
Thanks! I have a few places this will be needed so I can try different techniques. I'm trying the painted sandpaper method in the first spot... the sandpaper method itself always looks like... sandpaper. I have to admit the first black base coat looks promising.
Drop the link for the video please. Let's take a look :-)
Main point is, even if it had all kept working initially at some point one of the turnouts could go out and I should design things to make that simpler to fix:
1 - wire conduits and hidden but accessible wire holes
2- movable building foundations fixed w/a couple drops of elmers clear or hot glue
(powrdered clay sprayed with a paint wash... promising technique but do it away from the layout!!!)
Oh, I did. The concrete pads (made from clay) and then trying out powdered clay got inside the turnout and made it so it would work fine with the manual flipper but not once I finally had a controller with switches. I had assumed as long as the manual flipper still worked so would the electrical.L&L
Realistic model railroad or plastic model diorama (or just diorama builders) what is your preferred technique for texturing and painting asphalt roads or parking lots and concrete as well?
Been slowly going through and testing/tweaking with my trains and I finally got my BLI Reading T1 to smoke properly, it's been a bit of a hassle finding the right balance and all but really happy.
Here's a video for y'all enjoy!
