ARISS graphic promoting ham radio in commercial space: 'ARISS beyond the ISS' with photos of astronaut Rabea Rogge onboard Fram2 mission (April 2025) smiling in the spacecraft, and the Axiom Mission 4 crew in their suits. Text highlights first new space vehicle ham radio activation in 25 years on Fram2, and Axiom's STEM contacts across all 4 missions. Features ARISS logo and tagline about continuing amateur radio post-ISS era.
ARISS is looking to the future by building commercial space relationships today. We're proud to work with groups like Fram2 and Axiom to continue our amateur radio in human spaceflight mission.
Check the ARISS website for our "Beyond the ISS" article that looks more broadly into our future.

ARISS offers future human spaceflight missions proven flight certified hardware. This functions as backup comms for emergencies, communications for crew morale, and space based learning experiences.

NASA's SLS rocket with Orion spacecraft on the launch pad during February 2026 Artemis II rollout. Graphic promotes ARISS beyond the ISS: AREX project to track Artemis II telemetry via amateur radio, in partnership with AMSAT and NASA SCaN for future Moon and Mars missions.
Artemis II could launch as early as April 1, no fooling! Radio amateurs from ARISS and AMSAT will be working with NASA SCaN to track the radio emissions of the space craft.
We call that AREx, and it's one of the ways ARISS is looking beyond the ISS. More on our website.
Good luck to @arissintl.bsky.social in this testing of the Service Module Radio
We presume, without any knowledge of the actual problem, that this is to see if the issues that stopped the last SSTV event and have kept the Service Module Radio off air are limited to just the VHF side of the radio
Although it isfrustrating when things don't go to plan we wish @arissintl.bsky.social every success in their efforts to repair the Service Module radio and thank them for their continued perseverance and cooperation with the ISS team's many competing demands
These updates are always valuable
We would like to wish good luck in the software restoration and hope for the return of not only the default Packet/APRS functionality but also the prospect of future SSTV events
We understand the Service Module Radio is a Kenwood TM-D710E and is usually used for Packet/APRS on 145.825MHz
It is also used for SSTV transmissions on 145.800MHz
The last SSTV transmissions were cut short due to equipment problems, hopefully the repairs will allow the scheduling of future SSTV
We believe the Lizard Wireless Station's original callsign was LD later changed to MLD and then GLD.
GB125LWS is a modern #AmateurRadio Special Event callsign being operated by the team at the Lizard Wireless Station and the Cornish Radio Amateur Club

This is interesting.
It seems the ill fated Series 30 will go ahead. The #SSTV transmissions will come from from #RS-38S rather that the #ISS.
Transmissions will be on #UHF #70cms and the mode will be #Robot36.
Images will be lower resolution, the usual PD120 is 640x496 while Robot36 is 256x120
First lesson in our free on-line virtual classroom Intermediate course completed.
Good turn out of students, which is encouraging. Easy trot through Licence Conditions tonight. Next week we start the Technical stuff

We think it is really good that @arissintl.bsky.social share these interim updates and we wish them well with their investigations
By way of an update, this course will start next week (w/c 24/11/2025).
Tuesdays and Wednesdays are the most popular evening and in the event of a tie between Tuesday and Wednesday (or indeed any other day) Tuesday will be the selected course day
Still time to register

Series 30 SSTV: ISS at 25 and Scouts Update ARISS (@arissintl.bsky.social) posted at 19:57 on 16/11/2025: Link to original post. After 3 days of troubleshooting the ARISS ops team has determined SSTV Series 30 can not continue. Please follow ARISS social for updates on repair and future SSTV events. Original Post Information SSTV Series 30: Scrubbed The ARISS Radio in the Service Module used for SSTV is being taken out of service. ARISS SSTV Series 30 started Wednesday 12 November and sent images for about 2 hours before an issue occurred with the radio. Therefore, SSTV Series 30 has ended. Certificates will be available for those capturing the early images if they are uploaded to ariss-usa.org/ARISS_SSTV by 23:59 UTC on Tuesday 18 November 2025 Teams will determine when the next event will occur after additional troubleshooting takes place. The SSTV radio will currently only transmit for 4 seconds at a time. A backup radio, not configured for SSTV, will be put in place to serve several Russian STEM contacts this week.

Update #ISS #SSTV SeriesΒ 30
Numerous social media reports were quickly received after about 2 hours into the Series 30 that SSTV Transmissions had stopped. ARISS have been investigating this for a couple of days and have been forced to scrub the activation period
Thanks to @arissintl.bsky.social for this update
Whilst it is not be what we wanted to hear it is not unexpected. As we said in a previous post any problem that stopped #SSTV from the #ISS for this long was unlikely to be solved in the activity period
We hope the root cause can be tracked down

We will keep watching for any updates, but our uninformed opinion is that any problem that keeps #SSTV from the #ISS off the air for this long is probably not going to be resolved before the scheduled activity period expires
We hope the technical teams @arissintl.bsky.social can resolve the problem
We will be reviewing our pass predictions and updating our News post following this confirmation of further operational parameters
Please keep an eye on www.sbarc.co.uk/news/iss-sst... in case more information is forthcoming
Thank you to @arissintl.bsky.social for organising this

We often use an SSTV demonstration if we're invited to host a radio activity session.
Use an FT817 as the Tx and a SDRPlay RSP1A as the Rx on different sides of the room.
People are always amazed when the picture appears at the other end, yet it's comparitively simple and reliable.
Brilliant, thank you @arissintl.bsky.social
