New paper!
We took our peatland moss expertise and methods and applied it to fill and spill water storage dynamics to examine the hydrological controls on rock barrens moss and lichen mat growth. Mat NPP increases with increasing bedrock depression storage.

Sphagnum moss stained black
Sphagnum moss stained black
Very emo Sphagnum on site today. Must have heard the rumours of a new my chemical romance album this year and (as Iβve been considering) dyed its hair black like itβs 2008 again. Caused by deposition of organic C and humic acids when peaty water evaporates as far as I know #MireChemicalRomance
I love a good #wetland workshop
Can you send me an email at davidson.scott_j@uqam.ca and I will send you some resources! Too long to include here - thanks!
Planning the 2026 field season - lots of exciting #wetland fieldwork ahead!
It's World Wetlands Day!
Soggy wishes to all who celebrate.

On #WorldWetlandsDay, Iβm celebrating the beautiful wetlands here in QuΓ©bec. They cover~18 million ha of the landscape and encompass a wide variety of different types.
#Wetlands everywhere are critical ecosystems - they store carbon, regulate water, and sustain biodiversity! We must protect them!
Are you under 30 years old? Remember to apply for the Allan Robertson grants for research students and young professionals until 31 January. More info: peatlands.org/about-us/hon...
