There's always exceptions of course, but this was generally around the time they stopped caring (Most of the exceptions being ex communist countries)
Israel is now at a similar point in the timeline to apartheid South Africa. The 1980s saw the apartheid state invade or attack at least six of its neighboring countries, something it couldn't maintain.
The US then broke with the country and imposed sanctions, leading to the end of apartheid.
I'm not saying this is the biggest problem why people won't leave. I'm saying that Bluesky is missing that aspect.
