Trump Knew the Risk of Iran Blocking the Strait of Hormuz. He Still Went to War. The president told his White House team that Tehran would likely capitulate before closing the strait, the world’s most vital shipping lane.

You really can’t expect dod to worry about strategic issues when he’s busy making the military masculine again by demanding servicemembers have influencer abs and denigrating anyone in a non combat or civilian role www.wsj.com/politics/nat...

Yes please.

The combined employee and employer cost of my health insurance was approximately an additional 32% of my salary at New America.

Thirty. Two. Percent!

Nationally, $400k a year puts you into the top 5% of earners.
Top 1% is a bit under $600k

The tax system needs to be taken down to the studs, and part of the rebuild should be acknowledging that we have low taxes because we make individuals pay for things like healthcare in the most absurd way.

Every time Dems say “no tax increases on people under earning $…… per year, somehow the income threshold grows.

Really rich people should pay more, so should most of us, if we want to have a functioning society with decent schools, healthcare access, etc etc etc.

All the goddamn time!

I’d happily pay 10% more in taxes if I didn’t need to deal with new health insurance every time I change jobs, and my kids could go to college without taking on significant debt.

Arizona school voucher funds used for Broadway show tickets, concerts and trips, records obtained by 12News show While public schools are closing and educators are losing jobs, Arizona's Empowerment Scholarship funds are paying for high-priced entertainment and travel

When some kids have no pencils, it’s abhorrent to be paying for there to go to broadway shows.

Arizona’s voucher program is wild!

I want kids to experience the arts more than the average bear. This is not how to do it.

I think one of the best things I learned as a political science student was the difference between a rational actor (usually stable nations) and an irrational actor (think terrorist or non-nation groups)*.

Y'all still think this county is a rational actor.

*Very simplified, please take IR 101

After a series of fatal strikes involving civilians in Iraq and Afghanistan, Congress directed the Pentagon to reduce civilian casualties as part of a 2019 law. During the Biden administration, the Defense Department created the Civilian Harm Mitigation and Response initiative.

The civilian mitigation teams – cut by 90% by Hegseth – work with military commanders on target planning, and making sure that targets are actually military sites. The teams help come up with "no strike" lists, including religious and cultural sites and schools

I knew that the Department of War shot a missile into a school & killed 175 civilians, mostly children.

This is learned today:

Secretary of War Hegseth had cut the teams assigned to prevent such tragedies by 90%.

If the crackle of an unfurling paper FAFSA brings back memories (fond might be a stretch), you should probably schedule a check-up with your Dr.

You can also celebrate that FAFSA is finally working the way advocates hoped it would as a result of simplification.

I was in a 2 hour briefing today on the Iran War. All the briefings are closed, because Trump can't defend this war in public.

I obviously can't disclose classified info, but you deserve to know how incoherent and incomplete these war plans are.

Opinion | There are two winners in Iran. Neither one is America. Oil disruption benefits Russia, as does less U.S. aid for Ukraine. And Iran distracts from China.

It’s too soon to tell who will win the war between the United States and Iran. But, at this point, my money would be on Russia and China. wapo.st/4ui9QzJ
