πΉRecording DV over FireWire on a Raspberry Pi 5 via the prototype Firehat. More to come...
macOS Tahoe is still full of annoyances like this: a notification inside *System Preferences* that cannot be gotten rid of, and it causes the list to look janky, with weird spacing for the list item and a misaligned "2".
I'd be happy with Classic or Aqua over 'Glass'
If MacEffects ever makes a color matched plastic apple drop-in for these things, they'll make mint lol.
Oh how cute is that little guy! I want to build one in the 4-5" range, that looks like the original Mac... hopefully by next MARCHintosh I have some time for the design.
Kicking off #MARCHintosh with the smallest Mac ever: the Pico Micro Mac!

Ooh can't wait!
You should call it...

Companies are coming around to the appeal of mini racks :)
Exaviz sent their new Cruiser board to test, and DeskPi sent over their prototype mini rack mount for it. My experience upgrading my open source Pi NVR here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Lay...
Haha if you know, you know.
Bias.
But I may have it down to 1ms by tomorrow morning. I'm letting a clock settle. Then on to microsecond, and eventually (hopefully) 40 ns.
Did you ever have a day where you have one task.
And you open up the app, open the file...
Then spend 8 hours on a completely separate task, and wonder how it's already 5 pm?
(At least I got this particular clock down from 37 seconds off to 200ms off...)
re @anthropic.com:
I've identified industrial-scale copyright violations on my content by Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, X, and more.
These companies created thousands of crawlers incorporating the text of all my blog posts, open source code, and books into their paid AI models to profit exorbitantly.
Hi @jeffgeerling.com
I saw your Pico GPS clock and decided to make it into a NTP server with a Pico 2W.
GPS β PPS β Stratum-whatever, time over your network.
It's not the best but get a ~10-50ms accuracy after fix, over Wifi.
Full write up here.

Yes and now I have another clock build on my list haha
Looks great! Where did you find that 3D design??
The madlads at @pimoroni.com overclocked an RP2350 microcontroller from the base clock of 150 Mhz to a whopping 861.6 MHz.
It looks like 400-500 MHz can be stable on most Pico 2s, which is still wild.

Open source maintainers already had enough to worry about before the ongoing agentic AI revolution... my thoughts on recent AI-induced problems in open source development: www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZJ7...
Exaviz mini NAS/NVR CM5 board - includes 8x PoE, 2.5 Gbps uplink from Pi. Fits in a 10" mini rack, with an enclosure (not final version) from DeskPi. Testing it next week!
Honestly I think we each liked different aspects equally. But the kids loved trying to make the conversation app mode do things like speak other languages, get confused, tell jokes, lol.
Kids definitely need supervision interacting with 'smart' things!
Can a robot replace my parent-child interactions? It should be "utterly trivial"... but I found that not to be the case. The robot is still cool, though. Full video here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvBb...
Prepping for #Marchintosh...
Ah, fine cinematic masterpiece there!
Oh. haha... now I see it. I think my brain was just not equating a bending thing like that with "pencil", since pencils, by their very nature, do not bend.
The latest video from @jeffgeerling.com and his dad Joe goes inside video production of St. Louis Blues NHL games for local TV and for the Enterprise Center.
I thought it offered such a refreshing look at the people and teamwork involved!

Why does every clipart illustration Google use look so... weird.
Like this one for "No content available" in YouTube Studio looks like a cigarette sitting up against a flower
The big question... how do you say "GIF" :D
When I think of what electric car UX could be, this is more of what I think of, not "one giant touchscreen" and some capacitive touch buttons

Jony Ive understands iPhone UX (a slab of glass with no buttons) does not belong in the driver's seat.
Their monitors have always been solid, and sometimes surprisingly affordable.
This one not so much on the latter point, but my main desktop monitor is a Dell 27" 4K display, been enjoying it. I used to have a dell 19" at home in the DVI era too.
