El Cerritto and BART are transforming a dying mall into mixed housing/retail.

Would be terrific if @trimet.org/Prosper teamed up to transform Eastport Plaza into the city's first Social Housing/retail center!

Yes, but what if we have to remove a few car parking spaces to make room for bus lanes, bike lanes, or pedestrian corner extensions? Let’s not get hasty here

This would have cost us less than the last week of bombing Iran, and would have actually made America wealthier rather than just Defense contractors.

The greatest thing we can do for national security, energy independence, and reducing healthcare expenses is to:
1. Re-legalize building apartments/plexes every urban city 🏘️
2. Low-interest (2-3%) loans to infill developers
3. Fund transit with sub 15 min. frequencies 🚍
4. Give everyone an E-Bike ⚑🚲

In every Republican presidency of my lifetime there's been a recession and a new war in the Middle East.

Landlords are raising rents more than ever before on small businesses in Downtown and elsewhere. We need a Commercial Rent freeze/Commercial rent-control.

This isn't going to make that big of a dent compared to compared to Commercial rents going up 40-50%.

It is not the government’s job to provide storage space for your private property. Cars are no different.

Roads exist to move people and goods, not to store private vehicles. Governments at all levels need to start calling out and enforcing that reality.

Walking and cycling in Bristol save NHS more than Β£15m a year Bristol's transport supremo says there is a "clear mandate" to continue with active travel initiatives across the city

The data is clear: walking and cycling are good for our health, for the public purse, and for our cityscapes.

That's why @bristolgreenparty.bsky.social continues to push for better active travel infrastructure across our whole city.

There's nothing fiscally conservative about sprawl. There's nothing "small government" about the costs of sprawl.

The bill also doesn’t touch the millions of dollars ODOT intends to use for bonding to pay for another $160 million allocation towards the doomed, $2 billion Rose Quarter Freeway Expansion.

These cuts to Safe Routes were a deliberate political choice.

-$35 million in cuts to miscellaneous safety projects, like bridge preservation and seismic resilience

folks, SB 1601 is bad news. from the @portlanddsa.bsky.social ecosocialist working group newsletter, it would result in the following cuts:

China is counting the # of high precision missiles the US used to bomb compounds and schools.

CCP is so delighted the US created a new Iran Front, so when they try to take Taiwan next year the US will be dragged down by this war.

The Generals know this, so why aren’t they looking for an off ramp?

A conversation earlier today reminded me of this slide I put into a recent talk. How did we decide the tiny human-sized machine is the special case, and the massive overpowered machine full of empty furniture is the norm?

The fact that the streetcar still doesn’t have signal priority after 25 years of operation is a policy failure.

Transit is not functional when it can be outwalked.

In recent years, Bilbao has quietly built a cycling network shaped by lessons from the Netherlands: calmed where it can be, protected where it must be, and always comfortable and connected.

The result? You can now pedal across the city on infrastructure made for everyoneβ€”not just the fit and brave.

Keeping the buildings the same does not preserve a community.

When you make it illegal to build new housing at the high end of the market, rich people just buy up existing less-expensive housing and renovate it into luxury homes.
