A weird thing about hockey to me has always been the terms used to refer to a player in the lineup. Top 6 and bottom 6 forwards makes sense. There are 4 lines with 3 guys on each line. Middle 6? They are essentially in the top and/or bottom 6 by the previous convention. Happy Trade Deadline Day.
