See, only fringe figures like the Israeli defense minister are framing Israeli action as collective punishment
A politically paralyzed France has had four prime ministers in the past 20 months and appears on the verge of adding a fifth, a degree of instability suggestive of institutional crisis and unknown since the establishment of the Fifth Republic in 1958.
google the word βdisanalogyβ and then think a little. will help you.
employed by the Russians (one example is the bridges over the Dnieper, 2 years before generation was targeted, etc) but thatβs a somewhat different conversation to begin with.
βUkraine has been subject to drone and missile βjoint firepower strikesβ for almost three years straight and it has availed the Russians nothingβ
This seems genuinely v difficult to believe, even inc. some pretty dubious assumptions. There is something to be said about that actual targetingβ¦
Theyβve come a long way since the 50s yes
lol
Iβm not that keen on the Taliban but I am glad that Afghanistan is finally at peace. Been thinking a lot about that country lately. From the Herat rising to the time we left. I hope things get better there.
Part of me wants to get a big following on here so I can solicit opinions on various things but part of the reason I nuked my twitter is because I have (had?) a big following and it just got⦠yeah
i have quibbles with the article but it is insane that ezra klein is publishing these words in the new york times
Rest in Peace
I see the replies are still doing "everything in the USG on UKR was Jake Sullivan and only Jake Sullivan's fault" discourse
I don't give a shit about Sullivan but we're going to continue to miss the roots of the problem
No, this wasnβt possible. You can model it with the forces they had at the time, where theyβd stage from, which units etc. Just wasnβt enough. Ru had a massive overwhelming advantage in the south. Plus a modern army fighting on 2 other axes. Very few countries could deal with that.
in fairness the paper youβre almost certainly thinking of doesnβt actually argue that/come to those conclusions. Itβs misrepresented a lot online.
Anyway I might have an idea for this
Reply with your most substantive gripes about Dem FP
This is sort of like tracing the Vietnam war back to 1962.
Turns out IAF did have tanker support from USAF, obvious in hindsight canβt believe I missed that.
My recollection as a kid was that silver iodide does work, but it could screw weather patterns/produce unwanted second order effects, so we donβt use it. Plus people donβt like govt manipulating weather, we donβt need it to stop famines etc. Cool tech tho
If they are okay with it could you share a link once itβs done? Iβve heard conflicting things about space based (and Ru countermeasures)
well yes. reports had been flooding in the whole summer. βBin Laden Determined to Strike in USβ remember?
We have a lot of (good) lit on the Israeli record wrt LOAC and simple domestic policy vis-a-vis the Palestinians. On their use of torture, adventures in Lebanon, so forth. It wasnβt surprising that they would immediately start mass murder in Gaza.
Could you explain the Magna Carta one please?
Some historians traced the origins of the 1980-88 Iran-Iraq war back to the pre-Islamic rivalry between the Babylonian and Achaemenid empires π€·ββοΈ
βWhy would he turn off the replies?β
it isnβt, for precisely the reasons laid out above.
Just going to point out that in just the last month weβve seen the most intense, multi-modal warfare between two nuclear-armed states ever (India & Pakistan) and now possibly the largest-ever attack on nuclear-capable assets in a nuclear state (UA vs Ru, today).
The times they are a-changinβ.
Absolutely insane footage! Strategic Russian aviation getting wiped out on an unprecedented scale.
