Yeah... Collins is on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. She probably had a Platner dossier on her desk months ago.

I share that sentiment. My favorite tool is this simple map doodler. Free, easy to use, and i can just mark character positions with a token exactly like I would if drawing the map out on a white board in person.

Quaker House A Place of Peace in a Military City

Reposting this for folks who might need it.

This is the Friends org based in Fayetteville, who can help with moral injury, conscientious objector rights, and navigating a discharge if you want out.

Westminster Meeting House raided by Metropolitan Police again. Statement: β€œFor Quakers, faith and action are inseparable. Peaceful protest, prayer and nonviolent action are integral parts of many Quakers' religious life.

Whilst we take the planning of criminal acts very seriously, we believe that this incident is a deliberate targeting of committed young people who want to make our country a more equitable place. This raid is part of a systematic stifling of dissent.

That this is the second time in a year that the police have raided our meeting house dramatically illuminates the broader trend in the UK of cracking down on those who disagree with the government. The right to protest is fundamental to our democracy. It's a key part of how people make their voices heard between elections.” – Oliver Robertson, Head of Witness and Worship

I got my sociology BA about twenty years ago. When I took the Sociology of Genocide course we read this as one of the texts. It was well structured and informative. It pre-dates the media and socioeconomic shifts from the 21st century, but still outlines the trends.

If it would bolster you to to know, your writing made a big emotional impact the first time I found it. The character work you made makes a real, positive difference.

That sucks. You deserve better than Twitter.

That app and the people still posting slurs on it deserve the same level of antipathy as the Stormfront forums.

I really just want one lightsaber duelist who uses Force telekinesis to deactivate an opponent's blade. Maybe snatch the handle out of their hands, too.

If i see a twitter screenshot anywhere on here, i click into the profile that posted it and block them.

At this point, it's no different from someone reposting something from stormfront forums.

They seem to be leaning in a little towards the avant garde, with their recent Wonder Man series.

I now hold out hope for a Werner Herzog mockumentary about the criminal career of Stilt-Man.

If you ever want to make a break from Amazon's control, the Kobo reader is also an amazing device. My spouse is a public librarian and lives on theirs. All the same books, none of the intrusive omnicorp.

One Hour Photo

I went to see this at a mid-afternoon matinee and was the only person in the Cineplex. Robin Williams delivered a deeply creepy, and invasive protagonist in a horror film whose themes of seclusion and voyeurism are central. I left that one feeling deeply shook.

The Crow

In high school, we snuck past the box office to get into see it as unsupervised 16 years olds, because it was R rated movie.

Still an all time favorite, and one that holds up well.

Return of the Jedi

I was in elementary school and my dad took me to see it. The scene where Vader descends the shuttle ramp into the Death Star and steps through the fog into a closeup had me so nervous that I sidestepped into the aisle and backed up down the entryway, terrified and transfixed.

I fear it's just the stepping stone for them to lock all the microchip manufacturers into exclusive production deals so they can shut consumers out of computing.

If nobody can buy GPUs or RAM to build PCs or make OEM desktops or laptops, then subscribing to their data centers will become mandatory.

I was lucky enough to see his full live set at a festival in New Orleans a few years ago. His stage presence and charisma were incredible.

In the flow, and building as he played. He drew more and more people until the whole tent filled, and the paths around it were all standing room only.

If someone thinks a system like the ISS runs on can be scaled up to service the data requirements of a large population, they are dumber than dogshit. Basic physics precludes that outcome from being viable.

How does the ISS ammonia cooling loop compare to a ground-based ammonia cooling system? David Ogden asks, in response to this question, (paraphrased): How does weightlessness affect the pumping ability of the system? Shouldn't the ammonia not know which end is down or up. How would you

This thread where a terrestrial HVAC tech tries to wrap their understanding around the ammonia cooling used in space was one of my favorite things to learn.

Seeing the data centers in space bugbear popping up again. The first time it came around I did a deep dive to sate my own curiosity and ended up landing on some resources talking about how NASA configured the cooling systems for the computers on the ISS.

Good meal. Warms the heart on a cold winter's day. Should get quite spicy by the bottom of the bowl.

Sounds like it's time commit the ultimate Catch-22 and have Ai write your zero tolerance policy. That way when the administration complains, you can tell them that banning the policy would mean they are opposed to the use of Ai.
