Last night crystallised the burgeoning sense that it isn't just their rivals, everyone hates Arsenal. But why?
The stories that are being told about the leaders, even by opposition managers, just don't stand up to much analysis.

This is actually an abysmal joke. Famously Warbeck wasnβt pretending to be a Tudor. Can only apologise to my A Level History teacher Mr. Loynton, to my family and most of all to all of you.
Too many settling for the easy Jane Grey jokes
This has got to be the least convincing Tudor performance since Perkin Warbeck
I was quite skeptical in the summer. This is pretty, pretty good.
(I do, however, wonder if the bars are being warped somewhat by several hundred minutes as an attacking midfielder)

Brighton's final shot of the game, per Opta, came with 68:28 on the clock. After that they had four touches in the box. Arsenal had nine in theirs.
I'd stand by what I said that this wasn't a good Arsenal performance in totality but it was a very good last quarter.
Headline tomorrow is literally planned to be "everyone hates Arsenal" π
We have fun... I think
Mikel Arteta was not best pleased by Hurzeler's comments. Said he'd like the headline to be "I love my players".
Fabian Hurzeler: There was only one team who tried to play football today
Suspect they could go all night if you let them
FT Brighton 0, Arsenal 1 - Like a 90 minute loop of the first time you see the old lady in Weapons. Terrifying. But ultimately it was worth the horror.
Lol how little you knew
I wouldn't want you to think this has been a good Arsenal performance, let alone a great one, but Brighton have still just gone 20 minutes without a shot.
Amex Stadium boos Arsenal players getting into a huddle. Referee hadn't blown for the kick off or anything like that.
A lot of people, myself included, think that.
Then again, that's some efficient shooting...
HT - Brighton 0, Arsenal 1 - A chorus of boos from the home end for the referee, suspect you'd get similar from the away. A really bad game of football, one where Arsenal are playing with fire. If they're planning on hoofing to safety for 81 minutes, things could go wrong.
Mitoma puts his arm towards Raya's neck, not with any force it should be said, to stop him from distributing the ball quickly for Arsenal. That seems like both dangerous play and a tactical foul. No yellow.
It's so easy right now for Brighton to drive passes and bodies through the middle. Twice they've had give and go chances with a forward posting up and they're driving passes through gaps that don't usually exist in Arsenal defences. A function of heavy legged Zubimendi and Rice?
Since he joined Arsenal, Gabriel has blocked nearly 10% of opponent shots when he has been on the field in Premier League games.
He has blocked 157 shots. David Raya has saved 177 (admittedly in 84 fewer games but he does get to use his hands and it is his job).
Arsenal's record without Saliba is better than you probably think it is. Eight wins, two draws and a loss this season, the defeat at Villa Park when Gabriel was also missing.
Brighton XI: Verbruggen; Wieffer, Van Hecke, Boscagli, Kadioglu; Baleba, Gross; Gomez, Hinshelwood, Mitoma; Rutter
Arsenal XI: Raya; Timber, Mosquera, Gabriel, Hincapie; Rice, Zubimendi; Saka, Eze, Martinelli; Gyokeres
Since the start of the 2023-24 season Chelsea have received 125 yellow cards for what might be termed acts of ill-discipline. That's nearly 50 more than any other team. So far there are no signs that the crisis of ill-discipline is easing under Liam Rosenior.

Liverpool have taken 28 corners in the last month. 27 have been inswingers into the meat wall. And they have been very, very effective. If this is an issue, it's one that a lot of teams are exploiting.
That and more thoughts on the top four race.
Since Carrick's appointment 20 of United's 24 corners in the Premier League have been inswingers, the sort that really prompt that meat wall grappling. Every smart team in the league is doing this and that might end up being the problem.
With 100 days until the World Cup begins -- and 84 until Mauricio Pochettino names his USMNT squad -- Yunus Musah has a lot of work to do.
And yet still he is talking like a man who is going to be on the pitch when the action starts.
Not in a position to get the exact numbers but this is true. What is also true is that itβs very hard to control the game without the ball. I could have put in the final third details but felt it would overcomplicate given my view of what these stats tell us.
