These are my GRAMMY moments, and I'm grateful for them, and for all the folks who cheered us on!
I was immensely humbled and honored they chose to spend their Sunday afternoon in such a fashion, and glad the dad jumped up for a tune!
Being able to busk with my old bandmate Justin Robinson and with Demeanor, and realizing that a family of three drove two hours to see us busk on the corner outside the GRAMMYS.
Watching my nephew watch the telecast; wondering what he was thinking, imagining him up there, and cherishing the nominee picture we took the night before.
I don't do celebrity stylists, nor do I receive clothing from fashion folks to wear; my outfit was pulled from my closet. Also loved reuniting with my makeup artist from Ode to Mary Jo! Everyone slayed.
...thanks to our surprise nomination for What Did the Blackbird Say to the Crow, a record made outside with no overdubs.
My highlights are these: my team came together in such a beautiful way to help me put a style together that felt like me.
Many amazing musicians will never see 1 GRAMMY; and there are some times I wonder what a person needs with 33. I feel the same whether I win or lose but the opportunity to represent North Carolina old time music within the larger industry felt important, and so we went...

There's absolutely nothing wrong with celebrating music but any day with winners and losers makes me pause - we are the same walking in as we are walking out, no matter whether we were chosen to receive a trophy or not and the danger is mostly to those who do not remember this.
We are here together, and for now, that’s enough.
The nomination for a stripped down fiddle and banjo (and bones!) recording (which sounds incredible thanks to the amazing Joe “Joe bass” Dejarnette) was a surprise and we are happy to plant the flag for old-time music, particularly North Carolina old-time music.
I am proud to be here with my musical brother in arms Justin Robinson and with my nephew and next generation Joe Thompson disciple Demeanor.
The cognitive dissonance is dizzying, feeling so much the emotions from Mark Ruffalo’s Golden Globe speech; but trying to make this GRAMMY’s moment about ancestral connection and community uplift wherever I can.
We’ll be at Figueroa and 11th at 4pm PT outside of the entrance to the red carpet.
Ok y'all. Whats going on is making me cry on the regular. It feels weird to be here at the GRAMMYs - but I want to honor the music of my ancestors by playing it- we gonna do some busking tomorrow, come say hello if you’re in town for the shindig.
