Will this be extended to British nationals? Asking for a friend.
Honestly if any smart capitalists want to do this, HMU. Even socialists like me appreciate safe homes and elegant tools.
If I was a smart capitalist, I'd raise money and buy the nest smoke alarm business from Google. I'm sure at that retail price and 10 year obsolescence, there's a good business to be had if you're not distracted by shiny new things.
Hey folks, don't suppose anyone has a good recommendation for smoke and CO alarms? My google nests are slowly going out of date and Google have stopped selling them.
Systems have to be UK D1 or D2 rated.
It's been said before, but there are intellectually vulnerable people using social media and age verification will protect them from radicalisation.
Yes there are policy measures that could be enacted, but informally the grandkids could just refuse to configure their phones.
Team Starmer have not improved since the departure of McSweeny. This is such an unforced error.
There was no need for the punch-left and false equivalence between people who want to work for something better for all of us versus those who want to divide us through hate.
Really pleased to see just how strong the agenda is for @neo4j.com's NODES AI 2026. If graphs and AI are your thing, you should check it out too: neo4j.com/nodes-ai/age...
Add another 10x for log scale, that's proper sciencey that is.
~20kWh of solar PV today, first day of the year generating more than we need on a daily basis.
It's February, in England.
Strong "Only the LibDems can win here" vibes.
Slightly late notice, but I'm presenting on some interesting distributed systems consensus work tomorrow evening (Australia Eastern time, morning European time).
Will be fun, if you like protocols and fault tolerance.

If only there was some well-known book we could read about how the bourgeois always end up siding with the oppressor to save their own skin.
The British should celebrate the 5th July as a national holiday with fireworks and razzmatazz . It would be a fitting tribute to a revolutionary institution, and have the benefit of confusing the Americans.
But also maybe KS3 and KS4 English literature absolutely kill the joy of books by picking irrelevant works (classics!) or pretending that old plays make good reading (verily!). That's how it went for me.
Good on you mate.

Arenβt CT clamps the way to interoperate between systems? I have different systems for EV charging, home battery, and shunting excess PV to immersion heating. They all use CT clamps and local config.
I've become a butler to Codex, chasing it round with IntelliJ saying "no, not like that."
Systems friends! The latest edition of the UK Systems conference will be held in County Durham in April.

Lovely place, lovely people. Attend if you can!

All hail our robot overlords.
One of the British values of which Iβm fond is solidarity, of the kind that gave birth to the Labour Party. Starmer would do well to remember his heroβs claim that βthe Labour Party is nothing if it is not a moral crusade.β
Solidarity puts fear into vested interests. No wonder they want it gone.
I should add that the Birmingham accent is the most disliked accent in the UK.
Depends on accent, perhaps. When I was young an had a strong Birmingham accent, Iβd have said βork-wud.β
Now, being all middle class, Iβd say βawk-woodβ. With βawkβ like the command line program.
Really?
Looking at pricing for smoke alarms, and I simply cannot believe that Google are killing Nest. They're 2-3x the price of other smoke alarms - how can you not be wildly profitable at these levels?
This is banked for the next time I ask βcould this be a shell script?β only to be told βnoβ by a zealot.
The pink ones are pretty decent, if you can get past prawn cocktail anxiety.
Big fellaβs done brilliantly mate. English cricket does not like this.
