I'll be there! Any interest in meeting up?

In today's blog post, I complain about version control systems.

A Quick Update about the Blog, aka, wouldn't you like to pay money to read more about SimKube? π

I would love to get more paid subscribers to my blog. As I've said before, the income from my blog isn't how I make a living---but it does help in for sending me to conferences, and conferences are my best source for new leads and sales opportunities.

Very excited that I'll be speaking at SRECon in Seattle this year! My talk title is "Stop Reading Changelogs: Safer Kubernetes Upgrades with Simulation" (naturally), and I'm speaking on Wednesday March 25 at 11:55.
See the full program here!

"Look, I spent all weekend doing absolutely nothing, I just got my kid to school (somehow), I haven't had any caffeine, I barely remember what my job is, much less what I was doing last week or -- let's be honest, who you are -- and yet, for some reason you want to meet with me?"
I almost think I hate Monday meetings more than Friday meetings, tbh.
Just typo'ed `Dorkerfile` and I'm pretty sure that is actually correct
Oops I somehow managed to turn my Makefile into an infinite loop.
OK it's friday, time for the ultimate bikeshedding, aka, fixing my Makefiles.
Basically a task you can spend ENDLESS amounts of time on and still not be done.
ACRL's first public postmortem is now available for free subscribers :P
Learn more about how a race condition between cert-manager, the SimKube controller, and a mutating webhook configuration took down our (currently unavailable to the public) CI runner!

cargo clippy is one of the best linting tools I've ever worked with.
"It looks like you're trying to write a Rust program, and you fucking suck at it. Try doing it this way instead!"
Who's excited for ACRL's first public postmortem next Monday? (Or tomorrow if you're a premium subscriber :P)
hi my name is david i'm doing cursèd shit with rust AMA
Holy moly cross-compiling with qemu is slow as molasses! ACRL gonna need some ARM runners.
My KubeCon recap blog post just went live! And you can see the highlights reel video from our "fit in the kube" challenge!

This week has been recursive rabbit hole week. I'm so far down these rabbit holes even the rabbits are wondering where I've gone.
Welp, it finally happened. ACRL is now the proud (?????) owner of two (2) AWS accounts.
COWEN: The stupidest question possible: Why don't we just make more GPUS? ALTMAN: Because we need to make more electrons. COWEN: What's stopping that? What's the ultimate binding constraint? ALTMAN: We're working on it really hard. COWEN: If you could have more of one thing to have more compute, what would the one thing be? ALTMAN: Electrons.
These are not serious people.
Anyways, this is how I ended up doing nothing important or revenue-generating until sometime mid-2026.
How my morning is going:
- I want to stop shuffling static IAM credentials everywhere, that seems bad
- Oh hey, AWS has IAM Roles Anywhere based on PKI
- I need to set up a private CA, that's reasonable
- HOLY FUCK IT COSTS $400/MONTH TO RUN A PRIVATE CA ON AWS?
- Ok I wonder how I create my own CA
In case you were wondering what I was up to at KubeCon, it was incredibly important content marketing.
