Or there’s some other reason he’s focussed on the upcoming game in Houston

What does your antagonist like to do for fun or relaxation?
Everyone needs a break sometimes! Even Bowser plays tennis with Mario!

Fruitless Bodies: A Collection By J.D. Buffington
A Collection By J.D. Buffington
Thank you, Gabino! I’d like to point to my collection of the good, the bad, and the ugly: Fruitless Bodies Annotated. I take my reader along a bumpy ride of my first publications in small press rags to finding my voice through experiments in genre and form, each with personal insights.

I like happy endings
But i don’t seem to like writing them
My stories tend to end bittersweet. Victory, but a price.
Like them hobbits ain’t as happy when they get home. They took a mortgage on the world to be saved and are making payments for the rest of us

Tell me more about your #AwesomeCharacters
Technical question!
Do you prefer to write happy endings for your characters?
Or would you rather some tragedy?
Be as general as you like, to avoid spoilers! But as a writer, which captures you more often?

A copy of LITTLE RED FLAGS: STORIES OF CULTS, CONS, AND CONTROL edited by Noelle W. Ihli and Steph Nelson. Cover features a sinister-looking man holding a puppet of a woman in a red dress on his palm, while his other hand holds the strings. MWA-HA-HA!
Thanks Gabino!
I got my copy of this anthology, which contains not only a cool story by me, but cool stories by others. Check it out!

salmon/cotton candy pink background with a book cover and a cover blurb on it:
book cover:a very washed out/faded picture of a lit-up ferris wheel in a hazy summer sunset, with "Amusement Park Arcana" over it in black writing.
Jennifer R. Donohue is at the bottom.
cover blurb: Riley's best friend Tara went missing last October from the shitty amusement park where she worked. By spring, the police are no closer to having any answers, so Riley's taking it in her own hands.
She just knows Tara's still at the park somewhere, and an uncanny phone call on Riley's first day as a park employee only confirms that. The quest to bring Tara or her body home draws Riley further from her family and her boyfriend as she spends more time in the park's liminal spaces and opening day looms large.

I'm especially mad about the horrors of white Christian Nationalism today, so would love it if more people read Tradwife and got (constructively) angry with me

Thanhs, Gabino. For #FridayReads I want to share ON COMICS AND GRIEF, a book that combines a look at the comics of 1976 with creative nonfiction about my mother’s life and my grief at her death. It’s experimental in form, asking the reader to put together fragments as they would when reading comics.
