We’re Living in a Golden Age of Close-Up Magic For our next trick, we explain why professional magicians are having a major moment.

Fun fact: Close-up magic has never been more popular than it is right now. Here’s why www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

In Defense of Fakes We’re entering a world where copying isn’t only a compliment, it’s a form of creativity all on its own.

As @emilypeck.bsky.social reminds me, I've been working on this piece for over 20 years. I like the way it came out! www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Gloriously concise and on-point summary from Walt and Kira. Really helps explain why people like @vandehei.bsky.social get so excited about Claude Code and why 99% of the rest of us do not. www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

And then I guess the government has to tender 25% of the shares repurchased in any buyback? That’s how shares become public revenue?

I have to admit this chart surprises me, it's holdings of bitcoin ETFs in bitcoin. I would have expected the recent selling to show up here and it doesn't seem to have done so. dune.com/hildobby/btc...

It’s related to the β€œcollege admissions is infinitely harder than it used to be, even bright kids can’t get in anywhere” meme, which is just statistically false, most colleges are desperate for students

If you can’t understand the sentence β€œAlthough statistical evidence suggests otherwise, these unfortunate events are happening more often” then you can’t understand today’s politics. (I am definitely in the β€œthis breaks my brain so don’t look to me” camp.)

These Rolexes Look Identical. Why Is the Gold One $17,000 Cheaper? Both watches are an investment, but one trades at a much higher premium to fundamentals.

What’s the German word meaning β€œthe choice-regret one feels after breezing through a bunch of easy 5-point questions in Bloomberg’s Pointed quiz, knowing that the 30-pointers are going to be much more difficult”?

03.01.2026 15:54 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 0 πŸ“Œ 0

Well you see that’s where you’re wrong.
β€œWhat’s the weather like?” β€œIt’s freezing / It’s below freezing” yes C makes sense.
β€œWhat’s the weather like?” β€œIt’s boiling” β€” C makes no sense at all, it’s not 100 C it’s closer to 1/3 of that

28.12.2025 18:54 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Meanwhile ofc β€œ0 is freezing” is also very intuitive

28.12.2025 18:33 πŸ‘ 3 πŸ” 1 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

In principle I agree but in practice I like the intuitiveness of 70 is nice, 80 is hot, 90 is extreme, 100 is the maximum. And then above 100 is just feck off, that’s not for humans.

28.12.2025 18:30 πŸ‘ 2 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

What I really want is for the iOS weather app to show me the temperature in Celsius below 10 degrees C, and then in Fahrenheit above 50 degrees F
