Final gig of the year. Then it’s time to hibernate for a little while.

It's always a good time when the Placid Audio Copperphone is used in the studio! Blended vocals with a midrange focus. Tools and toys to help you sound your best!
New pumpkin pie recipe, perfect for the holiday.
Step 1: Build a trebuchet
Step 2: Fill a pumpkin with gasoline
Step 3: Light and launch
Happy Thanksgiving!
Tonight was my last outdoor gig after dark for the year. Not a moment too soon! 🎶🥶🎉
Experiment time: Testing the Weathervane drum overhead technique. Three microphones serve as the primary sound sources: a mono ribbon and two small-diaphragm condensers naturally capture the kit, while a kick drum mic in front adds impact to match the snare volume. 🥁🤓
Oh no! 😱 The studio candy jar is empty after last week's sessions. It was filled with the usual sweets like Smarties, Tootsie Rolls, and Bit-O-Honey. What treats would you like to see in there for your next session? 🍬🍫🍯
Unlock your creativity and open the door to infinite possibilities—schedule a recording, mixing, or mastering session today and get your music ready to share!
Going for a little drive in the studio. Which would you pick, a classic or a klone? 😉
Classic, reliable, trusted.

Here's a quick look back at my busy week: a band visited the studio, I traveled to DC for a remote session, worked on a mastering project, handled sound at several live gigs, and chased off an unauthorized A2. I hope you enjoy this little peek into my week!
Sometimes you must pause and rest so the music can sound its best!
I had the opportunity to run sound at a fun event this weekend. The video game music sounded better than ever!
Check out these amplifiers from a recent guitar tracking session. We dialed in some great tones that complemented each other well. The Sovtek amp was a little darker than the Carvin, but they produced a complete and comprehensive sound together.
The drive to create music never fades, so why should you?
In addition to recording, I’ve recently played drums on several studio projects. We discuss the song's needs, rehearse, and then record and edit to shape the song. Adding live acoustic drums brings a vibrant energy to any project, whether you’re a solo artist or in transition between drummers.
This week, I packed the mobile recording rig and traveled to DC to record a piano in a musician's home. Royer Labs R-122 mics on a FlexBar sounded full and natural. While fantastic alone, they feel even more immersive when blended with a U47 clone and room mics. It's like you're there in the room.

This month has been quite an adventure for me as I've been busy mixing, and I genuinely appreciate all the work! Your support keeps me inspired every day. Thank you so much!
It's May 7th, or 5/7. Almost everyone knows about the Shure SM57, but don't overlook the Beta 57.

Be sure to get a good night's sleep because tomorrow is Bandcamp Friday, and there are lots of independent musicians who would love your support.

The drums are tuned, and the microphones are set for this weekend's session. I'm excited to take on the dual role of engineer and drummer again. It's rewarding when an artist trusts me with their song, allowing us to collaborate from concept to completion.
It was a good Friday night working with the Timmie Metz Band.
Don’t hesitate to experiment with different sounds and techniques until you discover what enhances your music the most. Each song has its own personality, so take the time to explore and find what works best for you!
When working on your song, consider varying the type of snare sound to find the perfect fit. At times, you might prefer a sharp snap for a punchy effect, while other moments may require a fuller, more resonant tone.
You've worked hard all week, so take a moment to treat yourself this weekend! Step outside, visit your happy place and support live music. It's a great way to relax and connect with friends. You deserve this break!
Happy Spring, everyone! While there might be a bit of rain tonight, it’s exciting to be back outside on the big stage! Let’s keep our fingers crossed that warm weather and sunshine are just around the corner. Spring is here, so blooms and brighter days are ahead!
I recently engineered and drummed for a session with a guitarist who needed help recording songs without a full-time band. If you have songs to record but don't have all the musicians, we can collaborate and bring in some studio friends if necessary.
