Yeah. I believe the justification was to make it so that you could check if someone blocking you was maliciously spreading sensitive information etc. but yeah. It's not good.
They changed the "block" functionality in mid-2024 sometime so that if someone's blocking you, you can still see their posts, just not interact with them. Which some would argue is barely a "block" at all. www.forbes.com/sites/antoni...
Yeeeep. Really sucks. Preservation and gaming history is going to be in a real awkward place in a decade or two. I have no doubt that people are already ripping/cracking digital versions of current stuff, but it will be sad to have a period where there's no functional physical media.
