Speak up for state funding for #211 to close this gap: go.unitedwaysca.org/fund-211
Californians turn to 211 in times of of disaster, personal crisis, or daily challenge. But over 722,000 Californians have limited or no access to 211 because of where they live.
211 is a vital real-time data resourceβshowing where communities are struggling, where gaps exist, and where policy and resources are needed most.
United Ways of California co-hosted a legislative briefing with the California 211 Providers Network to highlight 211's statewide impact and AB 1832 by Assemblymember Ransom @asmransom.bsky.social, which weβre proud to co-sponsor and supports 211.
That's why we're proud to sponsor AB 1832 by Asm. Ransom @asmransom.bsky.social, alongside the California 211 Providers Network and the Family Resource Center of San Joaquin County, to strengthen the 211 network so all Californians can get the timely resources and information they need.
Californians need access to 211 services in times of need, and 211 urgently needs state support to address Californiansβ ongoing, emerging, and disaster-related needs.
That's why we're proud to co-sponsor, alongside the Prosper CA coalition, AB 1690 by Asm. Ahrens to ensure even more CA families can access the Young Child Tax Credit.

Our Real Cost Measure study shows that raising a child dramatically impacts household budgets. Child care can sometimes even cost more than housing.

211 connects millions of Californians each year to housing, food, child care, and other resources. State and local government relies on 211 to support communities through crisis, but California doesn't provide ongoing funding for 211.
We are proud to stand in kinship and solidarity with our immigrant neighbors, advocating for their right to be treated with dignity and respect, contribute to our communityβs overall well-being, and have access to a healthy, prosperous life.

Communities urgently need continued access to 211 services, and 211 urgently needs state support to address Californiansβ ongoing, emerging, and disaster-related needs.
We met with over 50 legislative offices to advocate for our sponsored priorities: AB 1690 (Ahrens) to expand eligibility for the Young Child Tax Credit and a budget request for an additional $5M for Free Tax Preparation Assistance and Outreach & Education programs. @asmmarkgonzalez.bsky.social
United Ways of California, a proud co-lead of the Prosper CA coalition (formerly CalEITC Coalition), helped organize our partners from across the state in Sacramento for our annual coalition advocacy day! #ProsperCA

CA United Ways played a key role in establishing the CalEITC, one of the most powerful tools for reducing poverty in our state. This CalEITC Awareness Week, we celebrate progress and the role of these critical tax credits in helping work toward a California where all can thrive.
Let your elected officials know that funding for free tax prep and tax credit outreach and education is important to you.
It's #CalEITC Awareness Week! State refundable tax credits like the CalEITC put more than $1 billion back in Californians' pockets each year, and free tax prep programs help connect eligible filers with these vital credits.
Tax credits are the most effective tool we have to combat poverty and help families afford basic necessities. The CalEITC, Young Child Tax Credit, and Foster Youth Tax Credit put more than a billion dollars back in working Californians' pockets each year.
We believe that every Californianβregardless of race, ethnicity, or immigration statusβshould have access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Tax credits combat poverty and help families afford basic necessities. In 2026, eligible households can receive up to $8,046 with the federal Earned Income Tax Credit (#EITC), and more is available through the Child Tax Credit and state credits.
United Ways of California is proud that our multi-year commitment to advocating for the creation and expansion of these credits continues to pay dividends for Californians with low-to-moderate incomes.
