I haven't written any more poems but I did turn a damaged canvas into a giant display board so I could see what progress I am making on this collection which should hopefully be done by the end of the month!

Anyway the fire horse just looked back at me and told me to stop dilly-dallying, so I'm off to finish some projects!
I'm not sure what's going on but we're up to four poems and at this point I'm just going with it!

I've also really like Itaglio printing and now I have too many ideas but had fun making this one which I want to redo because we ended up with a bad batch of paper that didn't soak properly.

More adventures in printing class, we've moved onto block printing which is what I actually wanted to learn to use in my own work, so I recycled some old embroidery designs and making plans for the left over embroidery hoops.

I do not wish unstable / inconsistent employment or low wages on anyone. I’m coming from a place of gratitude right now but I think for many, having one or two missed paychecks will have you feeling it for years, even as you try to get caught up. Kindness to those struggling costs nothing.
I’ve come to realize people think slurs are just words that hurt our feelings. No. Slurs, particularly the N-word, F-word, antisemitic terms etc. aren’t taboo because of that. It’s because historically when these terms are said they precede or pair with pitchforks, torches, lynchings & gas chambers.
There is a version of this world that could exist where, at any given time, the majority of humans beings are just chillin’ and eating fruit.
Unbothered and emotionally secure. Able to metabolize fear instead of projecting it. Willing to be present enough to feel the full body pleasure of a ripe and juicy mango in the middle of a hot day. Losing ourselves in literature for fun instead of escape. Imagine it with me.
Communities bound by mutual respect and support. Every kid given our best possible opportunities to thrive in childhood, and approach adulthood with a wholistic understanding of love and freedom? A society that actively acknowledges the required balance of power and responsibility? Can you see it?
That’s a world worth fighting toward. And this is still a world worth fighting for.
