insane to watch a single administration speedrun every sin in american history, skipping all the cutscenes that make them tolerable to the public
things every single republican president of your lifetime has done
- started a war in the middle east
- completely destroyed the economy
I might write fantasy novels, but I read a lot of history books for my writing. Here are 46 books I found quite interesting as I learned more about different corners of Black history.
The news is finally out! In my next book, DEATH BY CHRISTMAS CAKE, an amateur sleuth puts the knowledge she gathered from true crime podcasts to clear a famous cookbook author's name from murder. Published by Datura Books it's arriving November 6, 2026.

In celebration of Mardi Grad and New Orleans in general, here’s a lil witch casting Jambalaya with her allidragon 🥰
For this #BlackHistoryMonth, please hunt out #AlternativeHistory #SFF novel "The Improvisers" by

I'll be hitting the road soon for several fun book events over the next few weeks. Catch up with me and let's chat about books and everything else that might catch our fancy!
In case you missed the moment.
Art is powerful
This addressed soooo many logistical questions I was wondering about. Also very fun for
"All the things that keep you away from your writing are also the things that enrich your writing: your job, your kids, elder care, being involved in your community. All these things enrich your writing. So instead of looking at them as challenges, think of them as your superpower."
Missed this earlier since I’ve been on a deadline, but so excited to see this!
Fiction Standout #2:
The Starseekers by @nicole-glover.com
In this historical fantasy, Dr. Cynthia Rhodes works for NASA in the 1960s, using magic. Featuring exciting adventures and a huge extended family, this book also doesn't shy away from the realities of being a black woman at that time.
Looking to snap up a signed of The Starseekers, or any of my other books? You're in luck. Right now these bookstores have signed copies!
ICE operations appear to be scaling up in Virginia.
Locations mentioned here are within about a mile of me.
I’m sure this has nothing to do with the Dem trifecta getting inaugurated today or the Dem-dominated General Assembly opening session this week.
Now that it is cold and wet is a good time to help homeless folks near you.
You can do the bare minimum and help one person.
Friends even if you've already contacted your senators about ICE in the last week, it's time to do it again.
Do not let your senator increase funding for ICE under any circumstances without making them aware we will end their careers over this.
I think voting is incredibly important. This is why me and my friends have raised $1 million for voting rights.
I think if the ONLY THING you are talking about right now is people voting, you have lost the plot.
I’m seeing posts from people (outside of MN) about how US citizens should carry their passports.
And let me say that *inside* MN, we are calmly responding to requests with: “No, I don’t have to show you any documentation.”
Because that’s how you protect everyone, regardless of immigration status.
I do not personally believe that everyone has to comment on everything, but (as an Iranian) when I see Americans claim to "stand for Iran" while never saying a word about American taxes destroying Palestine, or ICE enslaving immigrants and gunning down bystanders, I get real suspicious real fast.
Keep calling these chumps and tell them ICE OUT OF OUR CITIES is the BARE MINIMUM. Get them OUT right now, and ultimately DEFUND AND ABOLISH.
Also, NO to failed "reforms" like training and bodycams that change nothing and just give ICE more money to hurt people.

I might be on a deadline, but I'll be visiting a few bookshops this week!

The Elizabeth river is right down the road from me. And this urban river see cargo ships, kayakers, cruise ships, dolphins and more!
There is no added value to adding AI to Libby, as AI has proven to be unreliable in even making suggestions. Plus was this feature even tested to know if this is what user wants or use in a meaningful fashion?
Outstanding Literary Work – Graphic Novel. Creaky Acres: A Graphic Novel – Calista Bril (Penguin Young Readers). Defiant: The Story of Robert Smalls – Rob Edwards (Stranger Comics). This is such a small thing in the face of everything else going on...
but the 57th NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced today and they left off the illustrators of four out of the five graphic novel nominees.
I remain dissatisfied with how comic artists are treated.
It amazing the great ideas Past Me often had! I highlighted words or sentences in my most recent draft while I can remember reason why for some (fact checking poison symptoms, damages a golf club could do, etc) a few sections I just stared at the screen without a clue what past me was thinking
"I'm not in Minnesota -- what can I do to help?"
A list of ideas!
