Had a downspout on our house which goes up to the second story which fell off the house in the last round of windstorms we had 6 weeks agoβ¦
Was finally able to get someone out yesterday to fix it⦠and just in the nick of time with all this rain coming through.
Number 2 is what Iβd consider the Bluesky platform. Iβd say thatβs where they need to try & βwinβ with features which make you want to be here.
Number 1 is whatβs really important to me for the benefit of having a technical foundation/standard for social networks. Number 2 is a nice to have IMO.
Insteadβ¦ theyβre building out the ability to send social messages to any platform (built on the protocol). It means you can move between platforms who adopt the protocol the same way you can have your own email address be accessed by outlook, or gmail, or apple mail. Same protocol, diff platforms.
I think I understand what youβre going forβ¦ but I think theyβre working on two separate things.
Number 1 is the protocol. That is an all around benefit to society IMO. Imagine building email where you could only send email to people if they were on the same platform. Hotmail to hotmail only.
Iβm not sure if what they are building will make life more interesting. The [at] protocol is building out the foundation so we wonβt be tied down to a company or platform if we donβt want to.
In the same way we can use different apps for email, and keep the same address.

Oh... snap.

I miss being able to commute with my wife.... we were able when we first got married, way before kids.
Now... we're always going opposite directions.
Is Amy your wife?

Foggy morning on Belle Isle
Well, one way to distinguish food poisoning from the stomach flu is when others in the house come down with the same thing two days later.
My wife has been stupid sick since Saturday night, and my son and myself just came down with the same symptoms yesterday afternoon.
We are so over being sick.
The people who developed the late lamented Dark Sky app have just released a new weather app, and it looks really good.
Oh... the link actually says why!
They were acquired by Apple... and the app was killed.
Oh? I really liked Dark Sky.
I'm going to have to check this new one out.
But... now I'm trying to remember... why was Dark Sky shutdown?
Homer Simpson, in a winter coat and hat, shivering with Marge standing next to him. A calendar showing the month of "smarch" is on the wall behind him. Text below the picture says: "(shuddering) Oh, lousy smarch weather."
No notes necessary.
One of the things that personally drives me crazy in the U.S. is how youth sports/athletic activities went from a part of the public good (municipal leagues and fields! rec centers! public parks!) to a privatized, expensive, highly competitive, highly structured pursuit for wealthy kidsβ rΓ©sumΓ©s

What I'm really good at
What I lost in Twitter, I found in Bluesky.
Oh waitβ¦ I usually canβt get a video to play more than 50-60 secondsβ¦ I have to reset it and try to skip to the part it stopped at.
I just thought that was a me thing.
That does not sound ideal.
I have not heard of that happening to anyone.
This seems worth the 45 minute drive.
Seahawks. Kind of wasnβt close.
