I have a main account, @lattesdotter.bsky.social, but I wanted a separate account to talk about chronic illness and chronic fatigue. I have been suffering Chronic Fatigue for over 10 years and have gotten a lot of support from online communities.

Eh. Until I hear notice of nuclear bombs being launched or the asteroid within 20 miles, I'm still going to worry about my health.

What would be ideal is if the best hackers were female. They are less likely to stalk and kill people.

I threatened in 2016 to go offline. You can see my tweets to "anonymous" on twitter at about that time. I have lived before the internet age. I have lived without electricity and running water. I challenged hackers to prove that they had a skill other than hacking.

You never know. But you know what, I'm tired of what we laughably call tech security in this country. If I go offline completely, then assholes have to get physically close to me to steal my information. And when they get physically close, they can be tagged and trapped.

I am disgusted by the way that this country is allowing pedophiles and rapists to escape from justice. I am disgusted by the failure to prosecute date rape, even when it's "nice teenage boys". I am disgusted that we are still educating people about domestic violence.

I am not an essentialist feminist. But I am a feminist. I read 1970s feminists when I was a preteen and my mother took me to NOW meetings in the 1970s. (I can't remember who all I read - they are on the bookshelves at my parent's house. But they made a big impression).

As a sociologist who focuses on class and global inequality, I do prioritize economic issues. But women's poverty and pain are economic issues. Women being underpaid and undervalued is an economic issue. Wiomen only being valued when they are young and pretty is an economic issue.

Like the lesbian and feminist separatists of the 1970s. I do like men and still want to be around them, but radical feminism asks, are you just trying to advance in a patriarchal society, or are you trying to undo the systems of patriarchy. Becoming female CEO of a weapons manufacturer isn't radical.

It was a shock when I got on the scale at the doctor's office. I never imagined I would be this heavy ever. I don't think my insurance covers the new weight loss drugs, and I don't know that I am pre-diabetic.

Can you store the files somewhere else temporarily in case they do get deleted? In the Micrsoft file structure,I would have a "Save" directory for work that I was editing (especially for my dissertation and academic work).I could keep the original in the "Save" folder because Word sometimes fracked.

I find that every so often "pixies" (good) or "galomps" (bad) hack into my files and metaphorically throw my files in the air and rearrange them. Sometimes, though, people make edits to online diary entries or online medical histories that I have typed - that is malicious. But it all gets backed up.

I use wireless computer communication to store my files in three or four different offsite storage data centers. There are complicated reasons for this, and I would like to narrow down to two offsite data centers and harmonize file structure between the "Cloud Files". But it means I don't lose data.

I actually have several "cloud" storage servers (files that are sent wirelessly to an offsite data center). This is partly because five or ten years ago, my phone and computer had different cloud storage servers and I wanted to transfer pictures from my phone to my computer.

That is so weird. The google drive is a separate file location (connected to an offsite storage location). The Google Storage Drive should not be dependent on whether the Google Browser is open. That is a privacy violation and a major coding error.

I try really hard not to get into the absurd "thin" culture in the US, but I think my weight gain is a real health concern. I am not doing this to help with my Chronic Fatigue, but rather to mitigate the damage from being inactive. #NEISvoid #CFS

It is not that my doctor told me to lose weight - which was great. It is more that I'd like to lose 20 to 30 pounds for cardiovascular health. I am heavier than I have ever been. When I was healthy, I would exercise and watch my diet to lose 10 to 20 pounds (which was all I needed to lose).

Do people with Chronic Fatigue and other Chronic Illness have tips for how to lose weight when you have Chronic Fatigue or a Chronic Illness? It is difficult to cook, and I can't order those fancy meal plans. #NeisVoid #CFS

I will have another doctor visit in three months, and before that, I'll get some bloodwork done to test sugars and cholesterol. I mostly worry that being inactive due to chronic fatigue has not been good for my cardiovascular health.

What was fabulous was that my doctor didn't tell me that the Chronic Fatigue was caused by the weight gain. I think she understood that I have gained weight because of my chronic fatigue. My blood pressure is okay, though.

I have gained weight, which I don't like. I always used to rely on exercise and dieting to lose weight, but I can't exercise much anymore. I have dieted successfully with Weight Watchers, but it takes a lot of effort and concentration.

I got a Moderna Covid booster yesterday - it did make my arm sore. My arm is still a bit sore a day later, but not really bad. My first vaccines were Pfizer, and my boosters were Pfizer, and I didn't have any reaction to the Pfizer vaccines.

At the clinic where I went, the receptionists did wear masks, and they had masks available, but the doctor and her assistant weren't wearing masks - but I didn't ask them to. But for people concerned about Covid and other respiratory diseases, it seemed good that they encouraged masking.

I brought some information sheets that I printed from Whitney Dafoe's website and the doctor took them with her at the end of the visit. She also listed chronicle fatigue syndrome as one of the issues that brought me in for a wellness visit. I have another appointment in 3 months.

My doctor visit yesterday went really well. It helped so much to have someone with me to help take notes and back me up. The doctor was really nice and she did set up a referral for a psychiatrist in the same clinic. I also got a referral for a mammogram, which is way overdue.

I am trying to visualize this and can't quite manage. Would you drop down sheets from the tension rods above the bed? I don't quite understand the box idea (my lack of imagination, probably).

I have a regular upright vacuum, but it's not great on bathroom rugs. I have to put both feet on the bathroom rug to keep it from being sucked into a regular vacuum. I used to have a whisk broom that worked okay on small rugs - the bristles had enough friction to brush out the dirt.

Living with chronic illness means living with constant uncertainty.

It means fighting to feel safe in your body.

It means enduring the judgement of others, the disrespect of medical professionals & constant gaslighting.

It’s not easy.

If you’re struggling, you’re not alone.
