I'm torn on NHL player participation. Personally, I feel the Olympics should be about amateur sport. But man, are the games ever entertaining when NHL players are involved.

They definitely are, but participation was negotiated in good faith. The owners can make it an issue during the next round of negotiations if they want to (they did get it removed for 2018 and 2022). Same goes for NBA players in the Summer Games.

Same for the upcoming World Cup.

Either way, it’s between the players and the owners. The players want to do it. I doubt the owners are going to risk a strike over it.
