If dems did this it’d be wall to wall coverage about how the president lost american passports and some, probably all, were given to terrorists who are in your house right now.
🚢🇨🇳"Excuse me, I don't mean to be rude, y'all appear to be in the middle of something, don't mind me, Imma just scooch on by y'all, just passing through! Much obliged, carry on, sorry to disturb y'all, have fun with whatever it is y'all are doing!"
The US State Department is evacuating its employees and their families from the UAE and is telling people who were waiting for their passports they can pick them up from the Canadian Embassy.
What an amazing time to be alive.
An Urgent Need to Contain Turkey If the Iranian regime falls, beware Ankara’s regional influence.
They're already planning the next Forever War over at the Wall Street Journal, against Türkiye
Letter telling them to get on a commercial flight, which don't really exist at the moment
A friend reached out the State Department about departure assistance as Secretary Rubio suggested.
This is State's response.
"Thank you, and please stay safe.?"
I got Rick Rolled in remote learning yesterday by the seniors.
They were like "look, there's an update from the State Department" and put the link in the chat.
Was or was not the story on page A11 in the print edition?
It's really a whole ass mess
I'm slightly bothered by how quickly I have acclimated to the sound of missiles and drones being intercepted
I co-taught a lesson on executive authority in China and the US with Chinese President Xi Jinping
UAE air defenses successfully intercept 3 ballistic missiles and 129 drones The Ministry of Defense announced that the UAE air defenses successfully dealt with 3 ballistic missiles today (March 4, 2026) and detected 129 drones, with 121 drones being intercepted while 8 fell in the country's territory. The Ministry explained that since the start of the blatant Iranian aggression, 189 ballistic missiles have been detected launched towards the country, of which 175 were destroyed, 13 fell into the sea, and 1 fell on the country's territory. 941 Iranian drones were also detected and 876 were intercepted, while 65 fell within the country's territory. 8 cruise missiles were also detected and destroyed, causing some collateral damage. 3 deaths of Pakistani, Nepalese, and Bangladeshi nationals were reported, and 78 minor injuries of Emirati, Egyptian, Sudanese, Ethiopian, Filipino, Pakistani, Iranian, Indian, Bangladeshi, Sri Lankan, Azerbaijani, Yemeni, Ugandan, Eritrean, Lebanese, and Afghan nationals were reported.
To be clear, the situation is dangerous because my government initiated another war of choice in the region.
But I'm safe & well due to the skilled emergency management and air defense capabilities demonstrated by the local government.
Here's the latest update from the Defense Ministry.
An image of State Department guidance saying that people should now reconsider travel to: Bahrain, Israel, the West Bank, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi, and UAE. This is a downgrade from previous guidance.
Update: The State Department issued an "immediate evacuation" order to US citizens this week.
However, evacuation is impossible due to closed airspace.
The situation on the ground remains unchanged, so the State Department's solution is to change their guidance instead.
Great job, Marco.
I think Nate and I had a great conversation here... and also my audio is awful and depression had slowed my speaking down by about 60%... but still... got to give lots of love to all (not Jacob Frey) of Minneapolis.
Nate Bowling, an American teacher who has lived in the United Arab Emirates since 2019, told CBS Philadelphia, "We hear interceptions multiple times a day. There was an alert that went off at like 3 o'clock in the morning, woke us up, and we could hear the interceptions. But we're safe and well here right now." "There are no flights," the U.S. Air Force Reserve veteran and former National Teacher of the Year finalist said. "And to be clear about that: The United States began a war. And then, after the war began, told people to evacuate. But there are no flights, and so nobody can get out."

That's a sign you should listen more often! I've got a great episode coming out this week about the Best Picture nominees.
And this week's is a conversation with my friend @mrtomrad.bsky.social
My dad was in Thailand I think for work sometime in the late 90s/early 2000s when they had a massive civil uprising. The US government sent buses and flights to pick up my dad and all US citizens. Citizens of other countries told my dad they were jealous of how well the US took care of its people.
Think about that example.
In that case the government was responding to instability that happened spontaneously in Thailand.
In this case, the government seems incapable of responding to instability of their own creation.
I'll keep repeating this: UAE emergency management on the ground and missile defense are incredible.
Bless them, they're doing heroic work.
Best part of all of this: I wasn't really thinking about leaving until the State Department was like "leave now" but there's no way to leave any damn way.
Our school made the decision to continue with remote learning through at least the end of spring break, which starts next Friday.
They will then reassess based on events.
That's a green light for us to go but again: THERE ARE NO FLIGHTS.
State is saying to leave, but THERE ARE NO FLIGHTS.
This even misses the mark.
They issued the evacuation warning AFTER starting a war of choice and people can't get out because the airspace is closed.
People aren't looking to bailed out by State Department. There are literally no commercial flights.
Btw the US govt's official stance toward citizens who are trapped overseas due to the govt's own actions is, "Screw you, you're on your own." (Paraphrasing, of course. But that's pretty close to verbatim)
Launch a war that jeopardises the safety of over half a million Americans from Jerusalem to Dubai? ✅
Send a histrionic alert after the fact telling them all to “DEPART NOW?” ✅
Pause to ensure that we have the capacity to evacuate our own citizens? ❌❌❌
Clown show.
UAE emergency management and air defense have been spectacular
My own government has failed the 50,000 Americans that live & work in UAE and the nearly 200,000 others across the Gulf States
To be clear, I don't expect to be rescued by the government.
This ain't that, bruh.
But it's absolute garbage to tell US citizens to evacuate AFTER they've initiated a war of choice in the region and there are no outbound flights.
