I had that this afternoon. Cat had three claws, all from different paws, stuck in my jumper. This was all my fault, obviously.

A portrait of a rather severe looking woman in Seville.
Mad for ketamine.
A painting in the Alcazar, Seville showing a man with extremely tight britches.
Didn't check size guide on britches.
A yellow sign with black writing which reads Herefordshire rural watch with a pictogram of a black scarecrow with yellow eyes and a crow on its hat. The sign is on a wooden fence with a churchyard and blue sky just visible behind it
Herefordshire rural watch is folk horror
I think there's a London one scheduled tbc.
Where are you based? Will see where closest likely event is.
I'll be signing copies at events and in bookshops when it's published in May!
Thanks so much! x
The cover of The Tattooed Hills.
The back of The Tattooed Hills. describing the book
A bit about the book.
A section break in the book.
There's other stuff to worry about; but I've just had advance copies of The Tattooed Hills, and it's a handsome thing.
Preorders etc via my bio or in bookshops.
Fine work @quartobooksuk.bsky.social

Helen filmed me making a video for Instagram which has had lots of views, and now she thinks she's Antonionionioni.
One for the kids.
Thanks John!
Picture shows detail of the cover of The Tattooed Hills and this quote by John Grindrod: As warm as Detectorists and as poetic as an English folk ballad.
People have been very kind about The Tattooed Hills, out in April, not least the excellent @grindrod.bsky.social , whose book Tales of the Suburbs should be on everyone's reading list.
Link to preorder The Tattooed Hills in my bio.
Love this book. Was also slightly afraid of it!
My laptop screen showing the progress of my latest book.
Ain't nothing wrong with that. I hope.
I've had this too, at work and as a writer.
Fine choice.
And following some digging by the brilliant @jamiembrixton.bsky.social have yourselves a Velvet Underground meets mid-period Tom Waits-ish song based on Hardy's poem The Shadow on the Stone. frankhudson.org/2021/11/05/t...
Scroll down to the song, it's worth it.
Everything about this is purest Dorset.
What!?
PIZZA EXPRESS BOOK A CELEBRATION
Yes, he's always haunted by after-life mingling and separation. His body in Westminster, heart in Dorset, whether eaten by a cat or not.
Sir John Soane's tomb in St Pancras churchyard.
The interior of St Pancras church, richly decorated.
All the fault of the railway. Sir John Soane's here too, in a typically understated tomb. The interior of the church is quite the surprise too.
The gravestones stacked in a circle in St Pancras churchyard
The tomb of Mary Wolstonecraft and her husband, William Godwin in St Pancras. Both now interred with their daughter Mary Shelley, in Bournemouth.
Finally, prompted by a recent post by @lordbonkers.bsky.social I took some time today to see the grisly spectacle of the graves around the now felled 'Hardy Tree' that had little to do with Hardy, in St Pancras churchyard, and also the tomb of Mary Wolstonecraft, though her body is absent.
They've completely nailed it. I'm reading the audiobook this week and just finished the chapter which includes Alton Barnes.

I am very much looking forward to that conversation with my agent (she gets 15% of the bottle).
Had it been on offer, than absolutely agree. Sadly, it was all for show, or maybe what producers need to get through several hours of my voice.
A bottle of expensive pudding wine erroneously situated in a north London recoding studio.
Am very much enjoying the chutzpah of the studio where I'm recording my audiobook. Spot the bit when I got stuck in.
Honestly, am so here for it. But am more here for you being OK x
