Sites such as PSMSL keep track of monthly mean sea levels for 100s of coastal monitoring stations around the world. Even though there is an obvious tidal factor to these erratically varying levels, no one has been able to predict the levels in advance. The trend is easier modeled than variability.

The linkage between tidal patterns & climate is tricky. The daily tides are nearly linear. But the same tidal forces acting on the thermocline and operating in the long-period tidal regime are nonlinear. Don't have a chance of predicting this unless apply the right math

Climate change was sold as less an existential crisis because they said we can mitigate the impact. However Peak Oil is a real existential crisis to a way of life, which is why TPTB marginalize it.
The sequel to the more recent "Don't Look Up" should be "Don't Look Down" ... and note that Venezuela is but a tar pit buried under 1 km of rock.
Venezuela is a clear admission of peak oil. Consider the yellow jacket riots in France, which was a response to increase in energy taxation.
