Unfortunately, a number of other words still end up on the blacklist. That’s a shame, Europe should be backing innovative entrepreneurs, not putting new obstacles in their way.

Wie echt gelooft in de internationale rechtsorde, verdedigt die ook wanneer het schuurt. Juist dan. Want stel jezelf de vraag: wat als Europeanen ooit zelf moeten vluchten? Waar kloppen wij dan aan? Solidariteit en eigen belang gaan samen.
Internationaal recht is geen privilege dat alleen geldt voor Europeanen. Je kunt niet zeggen dat het recht universeel is, en het vervolgens relativeren zodra mensen aan onze grenzen staan.
Asiel buiten Europa, steun voor returnhubs en het normaliseren van detentie aan de grens: het zijn keuzes die het recht op asiel uithollen en mensenrechten onder druk zetten.
Zojuist presenteerden D66, VVD en CDA hun coalitieakkoord. Het migratiehoofdstuk laat een pijnlijke tegenstrijdigheid zien.
De coalitie zegt te staan voor de internationale rechtsorde. Maar juist bij migratie – waar het schuurt en waar het gaat over kwetsbare mensen – laten zij die principes los.
