Yeah we did that too. But actually I didn't see a benefit from it, it seemed better just to clean the FH regularly and not bother with the mineral oil. We had glass tops on our actual bench so that was much easier to clean daily.

Forgive me for my ignorance but isn't the entire point of any legitimate military action about "next"

I somehow forgot where it was (might have been in USA) but I had a pizza with thinly sliced potatoes and rosemary on it and omg it was just excellent.

When I was an undergrad, my labmate told me to put CH2Cl2 in my thesis so I didn't have to add DCM to the acronyms list. Which wouldn't have been a huge deal, but fair enough. Me is universally known

And like, I really am happy to answer messages and have chats. But can't do 200 at once ๐Ÿ˜… and I don't see so much value for either side in us being connections when... we're actually not connected. Hard to figure out whether you have a connection or not sometimes tho

I've learned the hard way: I say up front not to message if I'm not HM as can't help
Then when I was the HM I said sorry I can't add you all
Even though you feel bad, it's not like they'll get a job by friending you. I don't know how to deal with LI connections, truthfully โ€“ I have 100 waiting too

Most Reform members believe non-white UK citizens born abroad should be forced or encouraged to leave, poll finds Nigel Farageโ€™s recent efforts to woo centre-ground voters may cause tension in partyโ€™s right flank, says Hope Not Hate

The term for that is White supremacy and any coverage of Reform that does not include that term is complicit in whitewashing White supremacy. Sometimes things really are that simple.

Omg at one job a whole load of colleagues said "SNAr" to rhyme with "scar". Never heard it anywhere else. Also had "die pee" for DIPEA in a webinar I watched recently

I never say methylene chloride, sounds old-fashioned in UK IMO. I also write it as CH2Cl2 every time!

It's fanciful bs anyway - when I was growing up there was LOADS of "a boy trapped in a girl's body" talk, re: gay women. That was literally the positive, supportive argument too (compared with everything else I recall). ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ I was extremely confused because I was pretty sure I wasn't a boy...

Bizarre then that I still have access to my email address from being a student in USA. Or I might have deliberately let it drop in the last year with all the Trump nonsense, dunno whether it's gone yet or not, but I could still have it if I wanted. And for a student it's vastly less valuable...

Will be moving to a locale with fairly limited lab-based process chemistry positions available come July. as such I'm becoming more invested in searching for fully remote #chemjobs - preferably in the process chemistry ouvre, at this point open to others as well. Advice or help greatly appreciated

A fragment of molecular structure containing disordered proline.

A fragment of molecular structure containing disordered proline.

This is easy - that stupid ring that is too often disordered.

We (wife and me) hate it so much that we found a new polymorph of proline. And we didn't even wanted it.

I do kinda feel like PEG-200 etc have no business being liquids. They're just so big. It feels attention-seeking

Whomst amongst us in chemistry does not have feelings like this about some kind of molecular entities

Ehhhhh it's not C-tier like arginine or isoleucine (which clearly just wants too badly to be like A-tier leucine), but methionine is obviously the best proteinogenic amino acid
