I was thinking of the quickest route, got a terrible thirst. π

Indeed, while the red route to The Buttress and down Heptonstall Rd would bring to our tender embrace, you'd be much better off taking the green route, and retaining the energy to lift your glass.
Fair. It's bad enough walking up. Don't mess with The Buttress.
Does your week already feel like this?
Yes? Why not try a beer? Here are three of our current selection, from @abbeydalebeers.bsky.social, @wishbonebrewery.bsky.social and Nightjar.
A brown wooden table top covered with 18 beer pump clips from a load of breweries.
#GLUTENFREE TAP TAKEOVER INCOMING.
Andrew's experimenting with a GF diet so he's decided we'll have a GF tap takeover. Happily loads of breweries are now making GF beer so we're spoilt for choice.
From Friday 27th Feb we'll have GF beer across 5 hand pumps and 3 keg lines. 1/3 #BskyBeer
In which case, you should definitely pop in for a few. π
He'll clean the lines beforehand but as we've no way of testing them for gluten there'll also be an extended range of certified GF cans for those who're allergic rather than just intolerant. 3/3
TBF he's gone a bit overboard: a couple of new beers from Brass Castle (inc a Black IPA π€), a couple of lagers, plus a low to come next week too. 2/3

If you've not caught this yet it's well worth a look. @laurenleek.eu uses machine learning to explore where pubs are closing and how their location and ownership models influence that. Have a read, see what you think.
We obvs agree with Lauren's observations on the value of cooperative ownership.
Musings on the recent and current state of Keighley's Taylor's brewery by @chrisd55.bsky.social, featuring a number of ghost pubs around Calderdale. The brewery has just pushed another round of closures chrisdyson55.blogspot.com/2026/02/a-ta...
Three pump badges on a brown wooden table. Moonlight is white with a photo of moonlight shining through clouds. Plouton is round, deep plum coloured with white text. Get Behind Me Satan has satanic white text.
Top'o't'Pumps this week.
Moonlight, a traditional stout from Serious Brewing Company. Plouton from Neepsend, a Black IPA, hopped with Mosaic and Sorachi.π€ Then Get Behind Me Satan from Nightjar, a 7% Baltic Porter made with 20kg of roasted cacao nibs. Nice.

Granted, just tickles me that they've always done it wrong, or at least so superficially. As you note, it's like the 'politician standing next to something and pointing at it' school of campaign communication.
Quite interesting the idea of the pub as a political vehicle. Feels very apt that clumsy attempts by politicians to appropriate them is completely at odds with their potential political agency, which feels very much more grassroots and bottom up than top down.

Gnn. It's happened again. The A646 is closed between #HebdenBridge & #Todmorden because of a void. No idea why they leave them under the road in the first place.
You can still reach us by foot, by bike, by train or by car via a scenic route over t'tops.
Honestly? You shouldn't be driving anyway.
*trigger warning*
It has come to our attention that tomorrow is Monday. Again.

Four black and white photos of acoustic musicians on a white background, titled 'an evening of passionate music for valentine's day'.
What could be more romantic than a night of quasi-folk punk this Valentine's Day? Courtesy of Last Night Of The Lights, whose Bandcamp is here: lastnightofthelights1.bandcamp.com/album/please...
Starts 8pm. Beer will be served.

Don't mess with community pubs:
313 objections submitted to @calderdale.bsky.social over plans to convert the Hare and Hounds into a house. β
Old Town, #HebdenBridge and #Calderdale have spoken.
Nevertheless, feels like it's doing a public service - directs certain people away from decent boozers and warns the rest of us where to avoid.
Features the currently under threat Hare & Hounds above #HebdenBridge, which a developer wishes to turn into a massive single occupancy house to *checks notes* address the local housing shortage. bsky.app/profile/foxa...
One of #HebdenBridge's best pubs is under threat of disappearing, and the community hasn't been given the chance to save it as a community enterprise.
Please sign the petition www.change.org/p/save-the-h... and consider objecting to the planning application (by Tues 3rd) to save the Hare & Hounds.

Happy New Year! 2026 will be an exciting one for us: we're celebrating TWELVE YEARS as a co-operative and working on a long-term plan for our future.
And guess what? We'd love to hear your thoughts on what this might look like...

Congratulations!
Feeling seen rn
Do you mind going back for another to see how it tastes now that you have? Not very scientific I grant you but feels like important research.
Would be interested in any research that links the quality of puns with how we perceive the taste of beers.
Hillfoot best bitter, 4%
Call of the Void East India Porter, 5.4% by Turning Point
Half Moon Brewery Session IPA, 4.2%
Brewsmith Bury the Hatchet juicy oat pale, 4%
The north is absolutely blessed with great breweries, and we endeavour to bring you the best of them. Some of them even come from Lancashire.
Right now we have beers from Sheffield, Knaresborough, Ellerton, Ramsbottom, Rochdale and Keighley.
Oh and a 0% from Edinburgh.

+1 on the Queen's Head. Goto pub for KX pints.
This evening, and every Monday.
OK people, let's science this. #BurnsNight
