The slow replacement of actual websites with real content written by humans with slop optimized for advertising the skeeviest industries is deeply depressing.

The bug where roaming Pokemon using Roar deactivates them permanently, was patched. (The bug where they have poor IVs remains.)
The official bugfix was implemented differently from the community bugfix, and by comparing them, a new bug was found:
Looks like Iβll be nicknaming in Winds/Waves because I will be legally required to get a Pombon and name him Missile
With the recent FRLG news, I'd like to remind you that the Buried Relic holds some information that may come in handy in your new adventure:

- Shiny hunting info and tips.

Our second AMA is now live on the Johto Times Community Forum!
This time around, our guest is Dragonfree from The Cave of Dragonflies! We look forward to your questions here:

π I'm glad I made a website for my Pokemon research, stop putting all glitch/mechanic/speedrun info on Discord!! Take 5 minutes to throw things up on a searchable website so everyone can access and learn, it doesn't even have to be polished! Make your own site if you need to, its easy and free
That comic is what I was referencing, yeah!
I sat there fully thinking, "Yeah, the difficult part of this question is remembering the weight thresholds for +20/+30/+40" and was genuinely baffled none of them knew Heavy Balls don't do a multiplier. This has been engraved into my brain since I first read an explanation of capturing in gen II
Many PokΓ©mon fans have probably only pored over the capture mechanics of one or two generations
Watching PokΓ©mon streamers fail a quiz question about the Heavy Ball modifier by guessing 2x/3x/4x is giving me a real βAverage PokΓ©mon streamer probably only knows the catch rate modifiers of the main few balls, and Heavy Balls, of courseβ moment
this is genuinely incredible
For over a decade I have tied my shoes one specific way: Ian's Secure Shoelace Knot. I learned it from Ian (aka Professor Shoelace) whose site is over two decades old. The knot has never failed me. I spoke with Ian about knots and the dangers of the modern internet. aftermath.site/ians-shoelac...
(Obviously, undisclosed advertising for other, non-gambling things is fine and trips no ethical alarms at all)
I like (βlikeβ) the implication that there are webmasters/bloggers reluctant to publish gambling links in particular at the normal rate, but, yβknow, if they pay a premium with all that sweet gambling moneyβ¦
E-mail with the subject βA new query about a publication on dragonflycave.com.β The e-mail reads: Hello, I would like to publish an article on your website - dragonflycave.com. Do you have the option of publishing a guest post on your website? If so, what would be the price of a publication with a gambling link and what is the price for a non-gambling link publication? Kindly notice we require our links to be do-follow and the articles should not be marked as sponsored. Note: On the off chance you offer more sites, kindly price them and send. Waiting for your reply, Thanks
One of the fascinating things I learn from these e-mails is that there seems to be a separate and higher going rate for gambling links in particular, even on the same website.
Awwww I love them! Charizard looking kinda peaceful/contemplative is the way to my heart
32x32 charizard sprites... #charizard #pokemon
As you say, sometimes doing the thing serves to develop skills that will also make you money, but itβs such a narrow worldview to assume every hobby must exist to be directly monetized. Thatβs not what hobbies are for.
God, itβs so irritating when peopleβs first thought when hearing youβre doing something cool and creative on the internet is whether itβs making you money. Sometimes you just do a thing for its own sake!

A photograph of the seminary gym in knives out. It has the same window.
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.
I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Our final interview of the year is with Altissimo's PokΓ©mon Site, a great resource of PokΓ©mon information, which launched in 2022! Be sure to check it out:

#SteamWinterSale is on, and The Amateur Deity Society can be had for $3 until it's over: store.steampowered.com/app/3241070/...
I'd normally try to convince you it's good myself, but thankfully I can now simply link to @botherer.bsky.social's review instead: buried-treasure.org/2025/12/the-...
Looks like I was thinking of pokemonicons.com, which was also a site with PokΓ©mon icons but it was a different site with a different set of icons entirely (these ones also looked familiar but are clearly not the same), so Raichumaster remains innocent. web.archive.org/web/20020802...
Wait, the owner of pokemonicons didn't make the icons? The one they had specific usage restrictions on and everything? Whattt, my life is a lie
It's interesting that there was less of that in the Japanese fansite community! Wonder if it's mainly that fewer actual kids were making websites there or something else.
There was definitely a lot of kids copying each other. That's why in my webmaster sections I did a lot of trying to assure the reader you don't need to have the same pages everyone else does and should try to make something original or something that at least adds something new.

www.dragonflycave.com/update/12-09... TCoD's URLs are now a bit nicer and more consistent, and I accidentally rewrote a couple of guides (most importantly, the reviewing guide).
(And it would be very much in line with my general principles to put more of my thoughts on TCoD as permanent content instead of leaving it as ephemeral social media posts somewhere, destined to just get harder and harder to find.)
