Fourteen years ago today, Trayvon Martin was chased, shot, and killed while walking home from a convenience store in Florida. Trayvon should have turned 31 this month, but his life was stolen when he was only 17 years old.
Trayvon should still be here. His family should not be forced to mourn him.

A mass shooting in Richmond, Virginia last night killed two people and wounded four others. Three additional people had to go to the hospital with injuries.
This should not be normal. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families.
Young people are paying the price for irresponsible gun ownership with our lives. The onus is on adult gun owners to keep guns out of children’s hands. Storing guns unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition is one of the most effective ways to save young lives from unintentional shootings.
The bills would:
🔒 Hold gun owners accountable when kids access their guns
🔒 Require secure storage of guns in cars during transport
🔒 Create a statewide education campaign about secure storage
🔒 Offer tax credits on gun safes and cable locks
Georgia has incredibly weak gun laws and the tenth-highest rate of unintentional child shootings in the country. Just last week, students and @momsdemandaction.org volunteers rallied in Atlanta to demand lawmakers pass four secure storage bills.
Naptime should never be fatal. River Willis was a 2-year-old boy who was sent upstairs for a nap. While laying on his parents’ bed, he opened his father’s fanny pack, found a loaded pistol, and unintentionally shot himself in the face. He should still be alive.
