What can I say? The stuff that almost always comes back to cause problems is what you think you know that just ain’t so, even if it’s just a dumb joke about a chicken.

I feel like the majority of us have probably never considered an alternate meaning for that joke, and this conversation has been a useful reminder to remain open to listening to differing perspectives.
A coworker of mine solved this problem by planting a Nespresso machine that he picked up on sale on his desk in our shared office.
That's news to me. I've always understood that the humour is in the idea that the uproariously funny punchline you're expecting to hear has been replaced by a simple statement of fact.
So does my dog whenever the neighbours pull out of their driveway, and my dog’s vocalizations also add nothing of value
I feel like I’m late to the party, but the gentle leader we bought for our dog has made such a difference for him when we go for walks
Some reference to running a 10k, wasn’t there?
Next weekend, apparently, per her own social media.
If an official commits an impeachable offense and nobody acts to impeach, it is no longer an impeachable offense.
People who oppose impeachment as “pointless” because it seems unlikely to result in removal do not understand this very simple point and seem unwilling to even try to understand it.
There’s an old Barney Miller episode where Ron Glass has a similar line about zinc futures
It’s not even my bleeding. I’m just the chauffeur
With more foresight, I would have chosen a day other than the day after the time change. to be at the QEH blood lab at 7:30
PEI season from worst to best
1. Spring
2. Summer
3. Curling
Is the answer not doubles luge and a decibel meter?
As they used to say (and perhaps still do) about my alma mater:
"Carleton. Where the K stands for Quality"
Just reminding everyone that if you don’t like Iran’s Islamic authoritarianism, it exists because the US overthrew a secular socialist Iran in 1953 because BP was losing oil profits.
The current mindset of the NS government in a nutshell
Lots of Nova Scotia politics news on the local CBC this week. All of it starts with the observation “Houston, we have a problem” and leads to the conclusion “We have a problem. Houston.”
I was out at about 6:30 to clear the driveway and I did not see anything close to “close the schools” weather
Indeed, or at the very least revert back to the April to October schedule that was at least halfways compatible with existing at this latitude
I will try and enjoy this week for that reason, knowing that next week's time change will leave us stumbling around in virtual darkness again until it's time to leave for work.
I came down with something about 2 weeks ago and I’m still trying to evict the remnants of it. I’ve found Advil cold flu and sinus to be the most helpful thing for getting me feeling normal, fwiw
1) If there’s one metric the citizenry uses to judge success, it’s surely “mining investment attractiveness” 🙄
2) What even is “mining investment attractiveness”?
3) Where did the other 14 jurisdictions go?
Echoes of PEI 2015
I didn’t know integrity and spite were synonyms 😉
When I was a wee lad my grandparents lived at the end of the Roxham Rd., and I cannot begin to describe the difficulty I have reconciling the hardline attitude of the pequistes with my memories of the warmth and kindness and acceptance of difference of the people in that area.
When I was a kid, the Islanders were in the midst of their streak and my allegiance was firmly with Mike Bossy. Many Wayne Gretzky hockey cards found their way into the spokes of my bicycle, and time has not given me a reason to regret those decisions
My good wife just noted that the change to DST is just over a week away and in my current frame of mind the lost hour of sleep just feels like piling on.
I looked at the forecast and decided I should take some time this morning to restake my claim. The whole endeavour has exhausted me far more than it should have and left me longing for the end of Farch*.
(* Farch - the miserable 8 week slog from February until the beginning of spring)
We have a little portable carpet cleaner that I'm happy to let you borrow if it's of any use.
