A kid after my own ❀️.

Little does she know I founded @mplscargobikelibrary.com & have access to ALL kinds of bikes for us to try. πŸ˜†

We didn’t have time to make it happen then... but now I need to find a way to let these kids try all kinds of cargo bikes.

At school pick up today one of the neighbor kids we help walked up to my friends' Tern GSD (longtail cargo bike) & started putting her stuff on his bike.

I laughed & said β€œThat’s not our bike & I can’t fit all 4 of you in there.”

She shrugged & said β€œI want to try this one.”

That visual is amazing. πŸ˜† Well done.

They make so many creepy noises!

πŸ˜† We were anxious about potential rabies exposure AND wanted to make sure we captured the bat to do the testing, so we called a company. They sent a very professional woman who was such a badass and captured the bat in 30 seconds. She's my hero.

I'm totally cool with bats... but very much not when they're inside our home.

Even after seeing it with my own eyes it took me a bit to process what I was looking at. πŸ˜†

To their credit, the bat was behind opaque blinds & crawling on the window sill. πŸ˜†

Our 7yo spotted it & ran to me to tell me there was a tarantula in the house. I told them that wasn’t possible & waited a couple mins to go check (bc I was still getting ready for the day & running late).

Lesson: if your kid thinks there’s a tarantula, it may actually warrant immediate attention. πŸ˜†

Making sure bats are gone & can’t come back in. You can’t kill them (bc they’re federally protected) so it’s a very involved process with lots of visits. And we have a 3 story house so closing up our attic is expensive (bc it involves getting all the way up there). First quote we got is $4k. 🀯

It was a bat.

And good news: It didn’t have rabies so we don’t have to get rabies shots! πŸŽ‰

But we do have it pay thousands in bat remediation. 🫠

Months of work and millions of dollars raised by thousands of our residents to help keep people in their homes comes down to the signature of one person. We’re calling on Mayor Frey to sign Pause Evictions, Save Lives. This policy temporarily gives residents 30 more days to help prevent evictions.

Yes, seconding Venture or Perennial. Watt Cycleworks or The Cargo Bike Shop are also super helpful.

And I'm happy to help!

Thanks for telling us how much your house cost when we visited in 2018! πŸ˜†

And thank you to DPS for laying me off 2 months later.

Donate to AyΓΊdennos a reunir a una familia separada., organized by Samantha Chito Hola, me llamo Samantha. Mi esposo Jonathan fue arrestado. Γ‰l estΓ‘ detenido … Samantha Chito needs your support for AyΓΊdennos a reunir a una familia separada.

I know people are tapped out, but for anyone who still can, this incredibly sweet family needs help urgently as they try to appeal the detention of their husband/dad. We set the GFM up in a rush, so the harrowing details aren't all in there, but I can assure you that the need is urgent and real.

This is why my family moved here. We got priced out of Denver housing ... but learned we could get way more for our money in Minneapolis.

(Yes, we just have to deal with harsher winters.)

MSP is defined by small cozy nice-to-haves that alongside the need-to-haves, bundled together, make for the best livability for the money of just about anywhere in America.

That's what we've been fighting for. And basic human decency. And love of our neighbors.

So i understand (though disagree w) local PD refusing to intervene w ICE. But now that we have bounty hunters doing ice work, what is their legal standing when they brandish guns or run red lights, etc? Have officials commented on this change?

The company we hired said the U usually sends results to them and they text clients with a no, if it's a no. And the U calls folks directly if it's a yes.

Some city train systems allow cargo bikes. Others don't. Even those that do often have circumstances that make it inaccessible, intimidating or outright impossible (like needing to get the bike up a stair or two, around a tight corner, etc.).

Sign: MILWAUKEE AVENUE
HISTORIC DISTRICT
1970s: Rehabilitation of the Historic District
By the 1960s, generations of heavy use had taken a toll on the houses. Fewer families remained.
Many homes became rental properties for students and artists. As front porches were enclosed and deteriorated brick was covered with stucco, the area's architectural integrity further diminished. A 1970s urban renewal plan called for demolishing nearly 70 percent of the housing in the surrounding neighborhood, including every home along Milwaukee Avenue.
A grassroots group, the Seward West Project Area Committee, fought to preserve Milwaukee Avenue and won its listing on the National Register of Historic Places. With public agency funding and their own sweat and labor, homeowners restored the houses. The narrow street became a pedestrian way. Today, Milwaukee Avenue serves as a Seward Neighborhood landmark and a unique example of Minnesota's social heritage.

Do you know about Milwaukee Ave in the Seward Neighborhood. It is 2 blocks of a completely pedestrianized street with a playground right in the middle. It is one of the coolest blocks in Minneapolis.

I will continue advocating with the relevant powers for justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti, as well as, doing what I am able to see charges brought for less publicized events of criminal activity by ICE.

We owe a debt of gratitude to the residents who put their bodies on the line to protect each other, while only armed with whistles. We know that Federal agents repeatedly broke the law in our city and many of us hoped that MPD was attempting to address this.
