Do I know anyone on here that works on the ArcGIS app? Or knows someone who might?
It feels good to be on stage again after a few months off, ending the year with a bang on the @yowconf.bsky.social roadshow #YOW25
This time I've even brought my own entourage, with our whole family having a few adventures along the way
Dan bought knock off tim tams from Aldi the other day, I could absolutely tell the difference. Anyone who can't tell the difference between chocolate and chocolate flavour should not be consulted.
I feel we need to have a blind taste test at NDC now. Would there still be stock of the old penguins
I question whether people really couldn't tell the difference between chocolate and chocolate flavour
Is it tempting to convince them that SkyBus would be a better option? π€£
I can also recommend using naan bread for gyros
I vote also reporting him. That's not cool dude
How dare I spell it correctly? Guess I was just brought up properly π€·ββοΈ
Depends if you're talking imperial or metric shit-tonne. But there's 10 metric shit-tonnes to a metric fuck-tonne
The recent commotion around Tylenol and autism reminded me how many neurotypicals are so uninformed about neurodivergence they think neurodivergent conditions (autism, ADHD, OCD etc) are some sort of plague that you can catch if youβre not careful enough.

Change of pace this Friday while I'm at @microsoft.com Perth helping out at VSCode Dev Days for @github.com Copilot
I will never succeed with this task (I can barely make it past coffee), so know I always have some kind of magic stain remover with me at an event π€£
It was wonderful to have you! I hope we made the long journey for a quick trip worth it!
Banksy piece with a little girl letting go of a heart shaped balloon, with added text reading βyou can do whatever you want foreverβ
This was the final slide from my Reasons To Be Cheerful talk yesterday at #DDDPerth and it seems to have resonated with a lot of people so Iβm sharing it here.
I once dated a guy with the last name Allen. My grandad is named Allen, his grandad is named Alan. We decided we could really screw a hypothetical kid up with the name Allen Alan Allen π€£

A very full on day but a wonderful one, back at the stadium for #DDDPerth 2025! It's been such a pleasure to be involved with @dddperth.bsky.social over the past 8 years and to see such support from the community
Congrats to the entire committee, we did it again! Now for a well deserved rest
Rendle excitedly talking on stage in front of a slide with a bird's eye photo of Optus Stadium and the Swan River
And closing up the day, @rendle.dev is reminding us of all the reasons we still have to be cheerful in the world today at @dddperth.bsky.social #DDDPerth
Kate strides across the stage in a dress that has code snippets printed all over it
Kicking off @dddperth.bsky.social for 2025, wearing a dress printed in code snippets that she has based her talk off π€―

Photo of DDD Perth conference lanyards for the years 2018, 2019, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2025. The lanyards also have a range of labels including speaker, attendee and volunteer
Getting the final things ready for @dddperth.bsky.social this weekend and taking a look at my name badges from previous years (I swear I should have a 2017 one somewhere)
Just a couple more days before I can add another to the collection!
No! Tabs absolutely shouldn't be vertical, stop trying to make that happen π«
Do people genuinely group their browser tabs together? I feel like the only time I ever have a group is when I accidentally make one by dragging a tab wrong and I genuinely haven't ever felt a need for this feature
Jake standing behind a lectern presenting to the room
It must be getting close to @dddperth.bsky.social because Speaker Training has now begun!
Over the next month, @jake.ginnivan.net and myself will be working with the speakers to help them prepare for the big day!
I never said you had to stop doing it, but you've acknowledged the problem π€£
Hey if not for reasons I would be overloading on events just like you right now, and that's not even my real job
I love volunteering at Fringe! (Well the Perth one), this was the first year in a very long time I haven't done it and I really missed it!
Enjoy! I've seen some spectacular performances there, often ones I would not have gone to otherwise
The first step is acknowledging that you have a problem π€£
So excited that @rendle.dev is joining us all the way in Perth next month!
YOW! Developer Conference 2025 Speaker Amy Kapernick with her talk: Front End Testing with GitHub Actions
Tired of wondering if your front-end tests actually run? π§ͺ
@amyskapers.dev shows how to use GitHub Actions to spin up live previews, run front-end tests on every PR, and build bulletproof CI/CD workflows at #YOW25 β¨

while the current official number is hotly debated, there are actually far more tags in HTML than the ~150 commonly cited! that number merely represents the ones weβve discovered and domesticated β there are potentially thousands more in the creeping unexplored corners of the deep web & dark net
I say that after spending 2 months on a project where for reasons I can't use semantic HTML & have to resort to horrible dirty hacks & working around frameworks & libraries that have decided to break HTML & CSS that should *just work*
I need to go and write some static HTML for a bit to cheer up
