Cars are kings in Ireland.

Another perfect example of our dysfunctional, unhealthy, car-centric transport system, where cars and drivers are prioritised above all else.

Minnesota lawmaker Katie Jones rode in a cargo e-bike to the hospital for her baby's birth. Her husband, Peter Schmitt, pedaled the two miles there.

On the return journey, their son Hans โ€“ all 8 pounds and 1 ounce of him โ€“ was bundled up and handled it just fine, Jones said.

Sadhbh Oโ€™Neill: Park & ride and contactless payment: how to fix Dublinโ€™s broken transport system It sounds like a 20th-century solution to a 21st-century problem, but the potential benefits are clear

The cabinet meeting yesterday to discuss measures to address the traffic chaos in Ireland would have benefited from following points made by @sadhbhoneill.bsky.social in this piece

We should be getting to the point where we can figure out some sort of "for every % point increase in rent, x number of people become homeless". As a result we could establish the cost to the state via emergency housing costs and how much money is indirectly subsidising landlords.

Teenager (16) injured in Dublin hit-and-run road incident Boy hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries after being struck by car near where Grace Lynch was hit and killed by scrambler

Hit-and-runs have become very common in Ireland. Drivers who do that are cowards. Own your shit or just give up driving.

The promoters of this "board of peace" will end up in The Hague, right? Surely they won't get away with this madness. The world hasn't gone this insane, I'm sure it hasn't.

This is, by far, the best business book I ever read. I just bought it probably for the 30th time. All previous copies I gave them to someone who needed to read it. This one I'm keeping.

Sounds like the UK could soon be taking a sharp right turn. The country is broken and dysfunctional, but there's plenty space for further deterioration.

The previous government cared, but voters showed different priorities at the last elections and the current government is reflecting that. We're getting what "we asked" for. It sucks.
