i like making big monolithic simple apps, that if i need to do db things, i can use transactions and relax...
but a project of mine which implements a currency system, now has a bot api, and i'm making a bot for it as an example...
on both sides is a monolith, but i'm on both sides...
anyone who potentially follows me / sees this post have a lobste.rs account? id like to join the user invitation tree

tailscale exit node back in canada is letting me watch dr who via amazon prime... can't watch via iPlayer because no tv licence innit
Big Walk seems kinda like R.E.P.O. meets The Witness and i really like that idea

sometimes you just have to build
I've found LLM produced Elixir to have much less consistency and quality when used in large brush strokes across a codebase in comparison to TypeScript / Python.
I think the lack of Elixir in the training data (in comparison to other langs) might be a major factor.
gotta overuse the word plonker, i.e. _plonka, absolute plonka_
Check it out - RSC in React Router!
Been working on this with @ebey.bsky.social and @markdalgleish.com for a little bit - pumped for folks to start playing with it!

so hyped for my stika
imgui is amazing for development UI, and can definitely be tweaked to be used for something user facing, but the recently released www.nicbarker.com/clay is neat, definitely gives you more control over how things are rendered and structured.
Much less features and batteries than ImGui though.
i've been link blogging this year: jackharrhy.dev/linkblog
while it's not overtly original content, it's still nice learning to get into a habit and practice a little bit of baby writing here and there, building up to some more meaty posts of my own in time hopefully
would you want your current focus on blog writing and video making to snowball into something more full time / bigger? or are you happy at keeping things at their current seemingly low-key level?
huge day
even like doing a live stream and then editing it afterwards to remove the dead air and make it more concise can be great
Sunsets I've taken of PS2 games I've been playing
What is Skin Deep?
Hear it straight from the developers at Blendo Games.ย

the urge to gain enough skills to be a one man indie developer band but the time and dedication required to lock in enough to get there
one day
Great discovery tool for new blogs!
Cool bit of @ntvnewsnl.bsky.social history, the Internet Archive Wayback Machine has a capture of what the St. John's Harbour web cam looked like on April 17th, 1999!
See it for yourself: web.archive.org/web/19990417...
a crud app with MRR is truly the dream
i would spend my days working on a niche quake engine related project while receiving enough stripe notifications to coast and vibe
I've made a Hot Reload template for Odin + Sokol: github.com/karl-zylinsk...
The build script compiles the game, but can also set up Sokol (download the latest bindings and compile the libraries).
There's also web build support (for making web release builds, it has nothing to do with hot reload).
such a rewarding square
a trick of working with ai-assisted coding in places it likes to spit out slop, is just get really good at staging changes in git, so you can freely apply changes, be in a horrible state, and either:
- fix it so it works
- `git restore <file>` back to a working state, and try again
Using scribe.rip is nice, with redirection extensions you can also make it automatically use the scribe.rip URL.
Graphics are back! The text pipeline has been removed temporarily, probably will be replaced with something else, but Suzanne has returned!
