PSA: if you were using the Svelte Claude marketplace: we've renamed the repo which means that unfortunately you would not get updates if you added the marketplace as `sveltejs/mcp`.

Please remove the old marketplace and re-install `sveltejs/ai-tools`...it comes with a surprise 👀

🧧 Happy New Year! 🧧

This is the year of the 🔥 Fire 🐴 Horse. The last year of the Fire Horse was 1966 when 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 England won the ⚽ World Cup, so I expect the same this year 🙏

I cover quite a lot of ground in this talk, but the bit I hope people take away from it is that AI-driven development poses dangers that we're not talking about nearly enough.

This clip was recorded before we knew how prominently Elon features in the Epstein files:

Gas Town’s Agent Patterns, Design Bottlenecks, and Vibecoding at Scale On agent orchestration patterns, why design and critical thinking are the new bottlenecks, and whether we should let go of looking at code

I have Gas Town derangement syndrome and spent the last few weeks writing thousands of words on agent orchestration patterns; how they shift our bottlenecks and force us to ask whether and when we should stop looking at code

Another thing I should admit: lazydocker is really nice

Never really gave it a chance as I know most of the cli commands but it's just nice to stay keyboard driven and type less

🙋‍♂️ so ... for reasons:

I would love to know people's frustrations with:

- the current npmjs.com
- admin user flows on npm web ui (and cli, locally)

🙏

Ohh nice. www.protondb.com is a good place to see if the game you want to play works and how well it works under linux.

Another tool is www.ventoy.net - you shove multiple ISOs on a bootable USB then pick the one you want at bootup. Very handy for testing multiple distros.

We released a svelte opencode plugin!

Just adds `@sveltejs/opencode` to your plugin list in opencode to get:

Configurable with a `svelte.json` in your opencode config folder!

Check out! 🧡

Essentially, it looks like a way of having multiple instances of the repository all tracked off a single instance of the data in your .git folder.

You don't have to do it with bare clones but for me it seems less error-prone.

08.01.2026 09:26 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0

So:

git clone --bare <repo>
cd <repo>
git worktree add foo
cd foo
...do work...

The cool part is when I want to kick off some other work:

...go back to repo root...
git worktree add more-work
cd more-work
...kick off something else using (using AI)...

I have ignored git worktree long enough. Actually super useful! If you're working on a repo and:

- Jump between branches
- Manage stashes
- Have multiple clones of the repo going

Then worktree helps.

Best way for me so far is to use it with bare clones...

Ouch. The only feature I use from that app is switching the scroll direction (without switching it for the trackpad).

Will flip it in macOS and wait for Logi to fix...

Another place I haven’t visited in about 20 years: Taro on Brewer Street. Pretty sure the Katsu Don was less than half the current price back then. Still hits the spot!

Actually the opposite! It’s known for being average and the staff are generally rude, but it’s also one of the cheapest in Chinatown.

Cycling is changing at speed – but is Britain keeping pace? Emulating the bike-friendly highways enjoyed by our continental neighbours will take a lot more money and political will

Germany shifts over 2 million e-bikes every year. France: over 500,000.

Britain? It will be lucky to get to 150,000. Why?

Because people need to feel safe to cycle, and that requires serious and sustained government support, which has not been forthcoming.

Had to go dig up which one it was: Fractal Design Define R3. Even older than the motherboard, purchased in 2011!

For anyone interested: I purchased the motherboard 12 years ago.

One of my PCs is so old the CMOS battery died and needed replacing. Turns out I need a CR2032 battery - which I _always_ have spares of ready to go.
