after my...uh...4 hour nap, it still feels like a fever dream
after my...uh...4 hour nap, it still feels like a fever dream
i'll have to ask @im-sam-schultz.bsky.social real nicely to come out of his poem/song-writing retirement, but i think i can be persuasive if we're bringing the gang back together for charity πββοΈ
i will use ANY excuse i can get to work with @tunaloons.bsky.social on silly music!!
YESSSSSS SO WELL DESERVED!!!! A SILLY MUSIC MAN THROUGH AND THROUGH πΆ
i was too busy producing this to post about it but what a freakin year it was. i love to do silly good things with silly good peopleβΌοΈβΌοΈ
ugh trace i'm so sorry π a real nightmare. we had a pipe burst last january and it's a headache to deal with all the little things.
i think the probability isn't zero (so technically yes it can happen by chance) but it's VERY unlikely because the developmental signals can result in so many tiny differences!
sort of like how there are a finite number of QR code patterns that could exist, but the number is so unfathomably big
πββοΈ now we're cookin with gas
also maybe it's easier to weigh a static object like a turd with more precision than your body because you can shift around? i haven't been on a scale since i was a kid but i feel like if you bounced even a little or shifted side-to-side you can affect the number because the force changes
honestly i didn't even consider weighing yourself OFF the toilet since it wasn't part of the constraints of the question to my brain π
the binary of ideas was either scale for human (above/attached to toilet) vs scale for poop (in toilet & cleaned by,,, bidet attachment?)
A product image of a scale with a metal hanging basket suspended beneath it, containing a variety of fruit
probably easier to weigh your poop than weigh yourself BUT my "i have thought about this for 5 seconds" suggestion is you could sit in a swing just above the toilet bowl (sort of like a fruit scale but with a hole in it to poop through) and then you can watch the number go down
eat a piece of burrata cheese like a soup dumpling (slorp)
credit goes to @silvia717.bsky.social for this one
oh HELL YEAH!!!!
i was also imagining Hank *continuing to host* but having to remember that he was doing this challenge, which will be its own kind of absurdist humor
π π π
(the answer is yes and this is the line that resulted: "No two zebras are alike, and even genetically identical twins donβt have the same stripes. Itβs even probable that if you took one zebra and /cloned it/ that your clone would have different stripes from the original.")
ok this was the video where i had the weird hypothetical question & it was about whether the "zebra stripes are as unique as fingerprints" idea is true & SPECIFICALLY whether two genetically identical zebras (twins or clones) would have different stripe patterns

start a stopwatch. without looking at ANY clocks, try to guess when exactly 8 minutes have passed.
color your hair based on a poll (with chalk dye / wash-out unless you want to be really brave)
jump as high as you can OR do as many somersaults as you can (please do not hurt yourself or your office)
see how many {grapes, baked beans, mozzarella balls, hard boiled eggs, hot dog pieces} you can fit into your mouth at one time
like chubby bunny but more chaotic than marshmallows
it's soooo fun to stumble upon weird knowledge or discoveries! sometimes i wish i could pause time for a little bit to just read a whole bunch of old papers or journals
maybe we just need to start a new podcast and see where it takes us πββοΈ
and i didn't get any of the ad products hmmmmm π€
heck yeah!!!
lmao please i must know sam's nickname too
Just noticed that @lingthusiasm.bsky.social is very close to a satisfyingly round number of followers on here
If you'd like to follow a podcast that's enthusiastic about linguistics, maybe head over there?
And if you think your followers might like to, give this a RT?
wah thanks for the kind words; they mean a lot! we really want to figure something out too & miss podcasting together!
